I baught a 50 plasma tv from them on Jan 2008, I have paid well over $1000 for it already and it broke. I called the store to let them know and asked how they can fix this problem and now long it would take. They gave me the run around and told me it would take a few days to get fixed but because my payment was due this week that they couldnt do any thing till they had that payment into the store. So my husband and I desided to tell them to come and get all of there items ( we had couch, loveseat, end tables, coffee table, lamps, foundation for queen size bed (that was $112.56) and lawn mower) all in which was total for close to $6,000.00. We have paid to date close to $3,000.00. They tried to tell me that they could not brake down the price for each thing in there system and that we had paid nothing on the foundation and we would have to start all over on that or pay in full for the $112.oo.
They have called my family and at one time had my grandmother worried that if she didnt give me the information very soon that some thing bad would happen . She is 86 yrs old. When I called the store they informed me that it was store policy to make the calls, which that I agree on what I didnt agree with was the matter in which they informed her to get ahold of my husband and I. They tried to tell me that she was lying and they never talked with her in that way. They also informed my mother in the same matter. Which my grandmother and mother do not lie, so I believe them when they told me how they spoke with them . I think that if Aarons wish to have people working for them, then they need to teach them customer curtisy and respect as well.
I for one have never been spoken to so rudely in that matter and would never have anyone go to their store to do a purchase. I will take the money loss and chalk this one up to be a leason. Just so that people know, Check the dates on back of their items. They tell you its a new item but when I looked up Tv info when I called a repairman on it the date was 10,2006. So they were not saling me a new TV as they had said they were .
Thank you for reading this I didnt know where else to turn to because when I asked for a main number again I got the run around and was told there was no one else to speak with but the store manager that was there at the time

#1 UPDATE Employee
A little information
AUTHOR: Woohog1 - (U.S.A.)

Ma'am
Here is a little bit of info from a current employee on the situtation.
First, it is company policy to make those phone calls. Since there is no credit check all that we have to go on is your word and your references.
Secondly, Aarons has a very easy pricing system. If the tag on your item was yellow it was a pre-leased item. If the tag was red it is brand new. The person that closed your lease agreement with you should have stated that it was not a brand new t.v. when he closed it. If he did not, then that is thier mistake.
On to another note in your complaint. If you bought a car from a company say car-mart, or whatever and the tailight went out, would you not still have to make a payemnt on the car, even though it is broken? It works the same way with Aarons. Even though the merchandise may be broken you are still responsible for the payment.
As far as making your grandmother think that something bad would happen if she did not give them the information, that may have been something that she thought of herself. You see there is a script that must be used when calling a refernce. Now im not saying that Aarons is doing it by the book, but I am saying that oftentimes a refernce can get confused by the phone call and take it in a way that is not intended. Also how many days were you late? If you were 4-16 days late, that is different than say 30 days late.
Peggy, if you still feel like you have not been treated fairlly, then ask to speak to the regional manager. He will be the one that will able to help you the most.
Thanks
