on December 21, 2007 at 8:30 pm an employee of Aarons sales and lease came to my door and very nicely stated that he was sent to either pick up a payment or take the merchandise. my wife explained to him that we had sent a Payment in the mail with certified check on tuesday for payment and that if he needed she would be willing to write a check and cancel the one that I had sent. he stated that he need to call his store manager nathan.

At that point he got on the phone with his manager and the manager began to yell at his employee telling him to force his way into my home. Keep in mind that at this time I was not home and it was just my wife and young kids home and it was late. The man at the door was very apoligetic and said that he was not willing to do that as he was on parol. So he called his manager back and said that he was not going to do that. At that point my wifes cell phone began ringing off the hook. It started with an unidentified cell phone then the store number for Aarons and then at that same call there was a message left that stated you are gonna Die and hung up. There were no other calls at that time and the call times and message times line up and lead to Aarons sales and lease.

When we first made a purchase from aarons there was a manager there that was very helpful and very professional named Cory. Then after about 2 -3 months he was not there and then a Guy Named dave took over again a fairly polite and helpful. Then he was let go. Now that comes to Nathan, In my opinion he has no business being a manager or even an Employee of Aarons.

I have since contacted the authorities and filed a report. They are going to take the messages off of my phone and go from there. My hope is that he is punished to the full extent of the law and then looses his job. Depending the outcome of this will determin weather or not we will continue to do business with this company.

More than one side to any story

I received this person's complaint about the same time it was listed on this site. I spoke to both the husband and wife and got a story that wasn't quite the same as what was posted here. They did tell me they paid, but they didn't know how much, and that there bank sent them "proof" of the payment. No one is beyond mistakes so I asked them to forward the "proof" to me and I would address there account and correct as needed. Not only did the "proof" never arrive, they wouldn't take another call from me (different number, cannot be confused with the store) now I cannot reach them due to disconnected phone numbers.

I have been with Aaron's in one area or another for over ten years. In that time I have had good employees and bad ones, good customers and bad ones. There are even a few people out there who will take advantage of the easy nature of doing business with us that they actually try to steal the product from us! Is this the case here? I don't think so. I really think these are overall good people who have fallen on hard times so they resort to some pretty underhanded tactics to retain possession of that product a little longer. If they even still have it and it's not in a pawn shop somewhere.

As a franchise, we are not some multi-billion dollar company that is trying to grow fat off the backs of the general population. We are a Northwest owned and operated company that sees the good our efforts produce daily. If our "customers" don't pay us, we still have to pay the bank for the product in that person's home. Usually 40-50% of the customers' payment!

We cannot afford to provide service without payment like every other business you deal with everyday. Have you ever sent your mortgage company 1/2 a payment? Have you ever taken 200.00 worth of food from the local grocery store and only paid 100 with a promise to cover the rest later? I know you haven't but we see that every day and we manage to get people to Ownership, which is what Aaron's Sales and Leasing is all about. We want people to buy an item, pay it off, buy more items, and send everyone they know to us. I know there are others in the industry who have a different business model and all I can say is I don't control what they do. God bless them, but I can sleep at night.

I sincerely hope the customers who listed the initial concern here will contact me at my office number that I gave them, or I will be in the store in question tues-thursday of this week. I'm open to working with people but I cannot let them keep the computer they have for free.

On another note, I'm sorry the local GM is being drug through the mud here. He actually is one of the nicest, most sincere kids you will ever meet and I have never seen or heard of him blowing his cool with a customer or staff memeber.

Keep filing Police Reports every time they do something like this and build a nice paper trail. Now that the cops have seen and heard what is going on you can bet you will get more sympathy from a judge and jury when they are brought up on charges. Charge them criminally and SUE them civilly.

Do you have a gun? If these clowns are threatening you and your family with death, how do you know they are not going to carry out the threat? You don't. You have a right to defend yourself and your family from these threats.

In the mean time DO NOT answer the door and DO NOT talk to them on the phone. Next time they show up and start pounding on the door, call 911 then get you and your family together in one of the rooms and arm yourself. Oh, don't forget to tell the dispatcher which room you are in and describe yourself. Also tell them that you are armed. This bit of info will make the cops life and yours a lot easier.


There is no excuse for the tactics that are being used against you and remind me never to go to Aarons.

So we have now had another run in with Aarons. The gentelman that left the death threat on my wifes phone cam eto our house on the night of December 31st at 6pm. When they first arrived my wife was in the shower and did not hear the knocking on the door. My two children were home ages 8 and 4. They came running into the bathroom saing that a very loud man was yelling at them throught the window. My wife got out of the shower and got dressed as they continued to pound on the windows to the point that they very easily could have broke. They saw my kids run into there bedroom and proceded to go to there bedroom window and threaten my children that if they did not open the door for them they would die or go to jail. My eight year old was screaming at them to leave and told him that he was going to shoot him with his 22. The gentlemen sadi he would kill him first. During this time my wife was on the phone with me seeing how far from home I was. I was coming down the road.

When I arrived the two men were still pouding on my boys bedroom window. I approach them and asked what the problem was and they gave there story and still said that they had not recieved payment when in fact we had proof from the bank that they had cashed the check. To try to smooth things out I told them since the banks were not open and the following day was a holiday I would allow them to take part of the merchandise until they had time to call our bank and verify the story. They loaded that merchandie which was in a separtate section of the house than the rest. Then after that was loaded he said that that was not good enough for him and that he was not leaving without the rest.

At this point I told him that I am asking him to remove himself from my property that he was tresspassing on. he pushed his way through the door and said that he was not leaving. I then called the police they came out and told the guy that he was tresspassing and that he was to remove himself from our property or they would do it for him. The officer told him that there are legal laws that he would need to follow and that unless he had a court order he was not allow to be there. the gentlemen then stated that he would be back and then they got in there van and drove away. The officer then came back to talk to us and said that he would suggest getting an order of protection. I have tried to contact corporate fro two weeks now. the man I need to speek with is out ouf the office more days than he works. if anyone has a way to get ahold of appropriate people please let me know

In the past, Aarons was a top notch company. But, now they are on the bottom of the list. In the past couple of years they have been resorting to tactics such as this. They can no longer keep good, dependable, honest help. I have not heard ANYTHING good about Aarons in quite a while. I don't know if these type of Gestapo tactics come from the top of the corporation, or if from the franchise owners themselves.
Aaron's is also very bad about repairing their broken merchandise. I really don't think they give a crap any more. But, that will be their downfall. Aarons' is just NO GOOD any longer.
