Afni Collections I have received a notification of a supposed debt to Verizon California that Afni is trying to collect from me Bloomington Illinois
*Consumer Comment: re
Afni Collections has sent me a notification of debt they are trying to collect from me on behalf of Verizon California, for the amount of $ 77.49, for a phone number I never had (909) 799 6821. I never lived in California...
When I checked online, I found more than three hundred reports filed against the same company many of them apparently for the same type of complaints.
In my case, this is the second time that this agency has sent me such notice for supposed debt...
I called them, but they put me on hold for 15 minutes.

Don't ever talk to them on the phone. Unless you are recording the phone call of course! (Where allowed by law)
Send them a certified letter demanding validation of this debt. Admit nothing make them prove everything.
In that letter tell them not to contact you any more unless it is to tell you that they have stopped taking collection actions against you.
If they continue to contact you then you have legal recourse under FDCPA/FCRA.
See BudHibbs.com or debtorboards.com for more information.
AFNI is just one of a number of JDB who hire criminals to make phone calls to people trying to get them to part with their money. They do this with terroristic threats of arrest, wage garnishement, etc., etc. They do not have this power so don't let them rattle you when they say things like that.
