AFNI is a debt collector for phone companies such as Centurylink and Verizon.  They hire both college students at the University of Illinois and overseas.

Debt collection is highly regulated, especially in Colorado.  AFNI has violated several Colorado Laws and is attempting to avoid its own contractually obligated Arbitration as an affiliate of Centurylink.

Despite having attempted to rectify the alleged debt, which is not mine (I have a current Centurylink account), AFNI has damaged my credit significantly to the point where I can no longer qualify for a home loan.

In researching AFNI, I have found via Twitter and Facebook that AFNI hires mostly college students and even offers bribes to applicants in the Phillipines.  Since the industry is highly regulated, AFNI has scores, hundreds of complaints and current and past lawsuits against it for various violations of debt collection law.

AFNI will not respond to my emails;  they ignore my tweets;  they have ignored my arbitration demand and they are currently damaging my credit.  Should a class action attorney wish to contact my they may do so via a response to this post.

I have notified Century Link of the issue as well, who also is ignoring my emails and various letters.  AFNI is nothing more than a worse than usual debt collector who flaunts the laws expecting most consumers to roll over and pay the debt, even if they refute it.  AFNI is prime for a class action lawsuit.

Please see the attached photo of AFNI's hiring of Philippine folks and bribe to interview.  There handle on twitter is @afnicareers and @afni.  If you are a victim of AFNI I highly suggest you investigate the Arbitration contract with the telephone company attempting to collect and file arbitration, as well as file a ripoffreport.

Unfortunately you are ill informed on debt collection laws.  In my state, Colorado, we are protected by the Colorado Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  Should you choose to debt collect in Colorado, you must have a license and bond to do so.  You must also follow COLORADO law.  NO MATTER WHERE YOUR OFFICE IS.  With your logic, if the debt collector is in the Philippines, then Philippine law would apply.  This shows your lack of knowledge on debt collection in the U.S.

As far as the rest of your rant, you missed the part where I stated "it is not my debt."  Therefore, your use of terms like "deadbeat" is a reflection of your feelings, not about me.

Thirdly, laws are made to be followed, not broken.  Since I did not owe the debt, which AFNI has now admitted, they VIOLATED THE LAW.  THE LAW PROVIDES THAT I CAN SEEK DAMAGES!  My credit was damaged.  I applied for a home loan just as they reported falsely.  THEY ARE THE DEADBEATS.

Since that time AFNI has sent a letter stating the debt was fraud, was not mine, and then further violated the law stating that the debt they admitted is not mine will not be sued upon because it is beyond the statute of limitations!

IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCEPT AT ALL WHATSOEVER of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, you would understand that I was damaged, I can now seek damages of up to $1,000, that AFNI violated the law, that I am not a deadbeat, that Philippine folks are not trained in Colorado Law, nor apparently are their folks in the U.S.

It is commentary such as this, the "deadbeat" beatdown together with any lack of intellect nor knowledge of the law that show your ignorance and threated to dumb down other consumers in similar situations.  You should keep your mouth shut, unless you understand the law.  And on that note, what state do you reside in?  Are you a lawyer?  If so, provide me your bar number.

Finally, I have the right to Arbitrate any dispute.  That is a contractual right, whether the debt would have been mine or not.  Regardless, rest assured I will be receiving a large settlement shortly and that your ignorance about the debt collection industry does not qualify you to rant about debt collection.  In fact, your keeping your mouth shut will greatly help other "deadbeats."  (ID THEFT victims).

They MAY not be violating ANY laws if they are setup to follow the laws in the state the MAIN OFFICE resides in. I have seen MANY instances of a lawsuit being dismissed due soley because the company did not violate the state laws in the state the main office resides. As for them hiring out of country people, so what!! Even ppl in the phillapines have to eat and provide for their families. Since YOU are NOT versed in HOW their internal system works and all that YOU have is supposition, HOW can you level ANY accusation at the over seas workers?? It could be that they outsource their CALL CENTER out of that country and it may have nothing to do with the actual collection of debt. Why is it so hard for the average American citizen to admit that THEY screwed up and owe someone money?? Why is it so distasteful to people like YOU for them to collect on LEGALLY OWED MONEY??? If someone owed YOU money, wouldn't YOU want it back as well? There may be a limit as to how long they can attempt to collect but being a deadbeat is a LIFETIME event. I guess YOU feel its perfectly ok for them to get screwed out of legally owed money. Typical. If it was YOUR business Im pretty sure YOU would be pushing the envelope some in order to get back what is owed. But instead of putting yourself in someone elses shoes and looking at it from a different viewpoint, its just easier to show the ENTIRE web how MUCH of a deadbeat YOU are. Perhaps YOU should have all YOUR money taken from you because YOU are NOT adult enough to handle little things like PAYING WHAT YOU OWE!!!! Go ahead and rebut!! WHAT excuse are YOU going to give for NOT paying YOUR debts? What LINE are YOU going to toss out there that makes it ok to stiff others out of THIER money?

See the additional screenshots luring Philippines into working for a debt collector.  Are they versed in US Federal Laws?
