We were inticed to use apply for a milage earinging credit card on our flight to Seatle a few years ago.  Since then my husband uses this card to make all his business purchases.  We own our own company.

I am in charge of arranging our family travel. I attempted to use the miles acrued a few times. We have 45,000 miles acrued.   The most recent time was March this year 2014.  I tried  to book a trip for my daughter to New York.  The advertisment from the Alaska Air was book a flight and the compantion rides free.  We were told yes the compantion would ride free the cost of her ticket using the  Alaskaair miles miles was $1600.00 to fly from LAX to Laguardia airport in New York.  If anyone has booked a flight to New York form SoCal in March it runs aprox $400.00 to $500.00 per round trip ticket.

The other incedent occured Sept 2013.  I attempted to book a ticket to Kauai from LAX for our family the cost of the ticket using the Alaskaair miles would have cost more than 3x for me to book a flight not using miles.  I stated this to the customer service representative and she saind yes basically its true and she seemed a bit emabrassed at their policy.

I have the milage plan from American Express using Delta airlines for my personal account and have been able to book flight for my family using the Delta miles.  The plan with Amex Delta you are able to use the miles accrued and pay for the miles to make up the balance for a ticket.   It is AMex however and is not accepted everyiwhere so my husband prefers a Visa card milage plan so here we are stuck with a card that he has accrued many phoney miles as he uses extensivly for business expenses.

I am very disappointed with this company and feel deceived with the phoney fake claim to reward customers with miles for using their card.
