It seems this is such a re-occuring theme. We have an A/C unit on the fritz, like a leak in the "A-coil" and the unit is 30 years old. The company is no longer around, the part is hard to find and very expensive for labor. AHS tells me that my condenser and my unit are different in their tons, so they are considered "improper equipment" and do not have to cover them. Of course this is after a good technician finally came to my house on the third call-out and recognized an entire new unit was the only way to go. Before hand, it was just fine to re-charge the freon or just look at it, charging me $45 to do so each time.

It is 100 degrees everyday here in Oklahoma, I have a family with two small boys. These jerks want to tell me that they don't care basically and that's that. They are as worthless as any company out there and this is just another fine example of corporate America sticking it to their consumers. We are also a military family, so we move frequently and thus buy a home warranty to help cover costs we shouldn't be investing in to a home we won't be in forever.

They simply do not care about their consumers and are there to only take your money. I do have to wonder about the "secondary offers" the technicians and their companies make to do the work outside of AHS. We were quoted at repairs of over $700 or a new unit for $1400. This is versus paying for our warranty, which we did when we purchased the home, and a $45 service fee.

Nothing will come about this of course unless consumers get support from our government, which is unlikely as with everything else. It's out of control and not getting better. And while it's nice to have a place to vent here, I doubt anything ever comes about.

If anyone is interested in coming together for a multi-consumer class action lawsuit, then we need to get it going. Once there is a team of lawyers representing thousands of claimants is the only time we will see progress made here.
