America's Second Chance Pit's Rescue aka Second Chance Pit's Rescue, Garrett S Akins Jr, Libby Keeton Akins animal rescue abuse: chaining pits outside in all weather and selling them on Craigslist Internet Kentucky

The KY rescue, not a 501 c 3, was using Second Chance Pit's Rescue but a real rescue with that name complained to Facebook and Facebook made them change it so they added America's to the front of it.  This Ky rescue posted an ad on Craigslist offering to trade a pit puppy for a lap top. They also sell them online there.

They have been in the news as well as on Facebook, threatening people with Garrett's violent temper for years. it is also online that they used to run a coupon scam together, although I am not sure how that worked. I do know their rescue page liked another breeder's page where a Derek Rayburn was posting also. Derek Rayburn is the ex-animal control officer convicted of dog fighting who lives nearby them in KY. For more info Look up Derek Rayburn or Cynthia Merriman of Paws for Life rescue. Also, insiders say that Cynthia Merriman keeps the pledges & sends them the dogs. They are now using Paws without Borders for transport even though they accused them of being late delivering dogs and of the dogs being transported in horrid conditions. This rescue is def not a 501 c 3. In fact, they only exist on Facebook.  Well they are building a website on Weebly now also. Libby said they rescue from all over because there are no pits in Kentucky that need help, really?  Oddly, they are DNA at their local shelter.  The photos below are of their rescue. You can see these same photos on their rescue's Facebook page.  They are chained outside to small dog houses. Yes, this looks ideal. Picture this in the dead of winter. They posted that they buy Ol'Roy and Gravy Train for dog food...no nutrition at all. They said they put chicken in it but there was clearly no meat in it in the photos.

Garrett has verbally attacked and physically threatened people online for years. He also posted an ad to trade a pit bull puppy for a lap top and sells the dogs online.  His rescue page liked a breeders page that has an ex-animal control officer convicted of dog fighting on there posting also. The page tells people to “work their dogs”.

 Bottom line is they are adopting dogs and getting rescues like Cynthia's to pull dogs for them and they are getting these pit bulls from all over the country. They had 18 dogs outside per their rescue page in Sept and have been getting more on a regular basis. They are clearly in violation of code enforcment's laws and have been reported to local authorities as well as other agencies.
