I received a call on my cell phone today, when i first answered the man on the other end congratulated me for winning a 3 day and 2 night vacation, he preceded to explain that i would only have to pay 2.99. And that i was entered to win a million dollars as well. After talking about what i did for a living and how old i was he told me he must transfer me to his supervisor and that he was new so to put in a good word for him. I was already skeptical and should have hung up then. I was then bounced around talking to several different woman who all talked about there families and how this was not a scam or they would not sleep at night. The stipulations for the vacation was to purchase 5 magazines for 58.00 a month for 12 months, i spoke to several other woman who beat around the bush lowering my payment to 37.50 finally,(giving me the senior discount) even after repeatedly telling them i could not afford 40 bucks a month for magazines. I fianlly told her no take me off the list im really not interested and by then she told me it was to late. This was after one of the ladies had already told me, My Name, Address and gave me the first few numbers off my visa card asking me to give her the rest of the numbers to conferm it was reallly mine.(totally suckerd me in)!!!! These people talk to fast, they are confusing and they are a totall rip off. I was also told by the very first gut i talked to that i could cancel after the first bill, then by the time i spoke with the last lady she explained how i could not cancel(this was after they had alredy charged my credit card). And to top it all off if i wanted to take my free vacation i had to pay for my flight!

It's a scam for everyone. Call them and make a lawyer threat and they have to cancel your service. At that point I would request a full refund. Don't let them tell you anything else about doing a service inquiry or anything that they may offer. You want a full refund by credit card.

Please contact me at accountant@areacirculation.net and I'll look into the records. We can actually listen to the phone call where you were 'verified', so I'll definitely be able to help.

I just need a little more information to look you up, and I promise we will take care of you.

We don't make money on unhappy customers, and in our business we actually lose money we invest in the subscription and purchasing the customers contract.

If a person subscribes with us and then refuses to pay, we not only lost their business, but also the large amount of money we paid out immediately upon making the deal.

It's a strange business, but it's the only way to get the super low prices, i.e., to pay up front and then trust our customers to come through.

We are revamping our sales scripts and working on ways to lower complaints. We have a great record considering the number of magazines we sell, but we are aiming for perfection (if you aim for nothing you are sure to hit it).
