I was looking for insurance for my mother and I found about Assurant Health. They told me that they would review my mother application, but they needed medical records for review to determine her health. Two days they sent a rejection letter that due the medical records received they will not accept her.
The only condition she has is VIRTIGO. Even the insurance sales person stated it was not a big deal having VIRTIGO. We were honest in reviewing her state of condition and they then rejected her. Stating that the Hospital about two months ago review that her EKG and other data was not good. After going to the Hospital she was fine and how can they state the medical records then, they should check her now when she is healthy. Aleast we didn't get the insurance they would find anything not to pay.
Even in their pre-existing Conditions STATE : that any illness or injury not fully disclosed on the enrollment form the client must go over 12-months waiting period. After they can get benefits. Maybe we should of lied. The insurance companies want liers instead of honest people.

If you look at any of Assurant's product brochures it clearly states that" as long as you inform assurant of your pre-existing condition and you are accepted by the insurance company they will cover the pre-existing condition; unless an exclusionary rider is attached." That is on the max plan and core med plans and on thier hsa plans. Just understand you can be declined coverage for pre-existiing conditions. If you let them know about it and they decide to insure you with out an
exclusionary rider then they cover it....period. Now if you dont tell them about any pre-existing condition and they find out about that condition then here is what happens..... they can decline to cover the condition for one year. I hope that is all that happens to someone who gets caught withholding medical information on an application. It can get much worse. In the claims review process they can determine if they would have insured you or not with the proper information and can cancell your policy leaving the client holding the bag of medical bills. Non the less if you buy short term insurance....it is cheap...but it is not fully underwritten and does not COVER PRE-EXISTING CONDITIONS..full medical plans ment for coverage of over 6 months is a different ball game.

I am a multi-line insurance broker who sells Assurant Health policies as a product in my health and life portfolio. The insurance laws of most states state that it is a client's responsibility as an applicant to health insurance to read all questions on the application carefully. It states in the product brochures and even the application that pre-existing conditions are not covered for 12 months from the date of policy inception. If a person does not report a pre-existing condition on the application, then that does not change the fact that he or she has one. If in doubt, I would recommend not completing an application until all of your questions and concerns have been addressed adequately. I know that there are pushy agents out there that are just trying to make a buck, but as an agent who cares about others I urge you to obtain all of the facts in advance.
Sincerely,
BMob

As an agent for Assurant in Michigan, Virtigo has come up quite a bit. If a potential client currently has it with symptoms, it is a straight decline. If they have shown no symptoms for more than a year, then a person could possibly be approved with a rate-up.
I would be curious if you went through Assurant, or an agency in Nevada?
