I normally don't check my phone bill, but decided to do so when I got my bill last night, which had an extra $32.99 added. Turns out, there was an iPhone data plan added and roadside assistance added, which was definitely not authorized since no one on my plan has ever had an iPhone.

The representative who spoke to me kept saying that the data plan is required for the iPhone and if I remove it, the phone will be charged per use, which is fine since we don't have the phone (she obviously couldn't grasp that very basic concept). She kept claiming that an iPhone was added in October of 2008. It is now May 2009 and this is the first time the data plan has appeared on the bill. She couldn't explain that and after speaking to someone, she claimed that someone authorized the charge in April and would not deduct the charges from the bill or remove the plan. I am the only person authorized to make such changes and I definitely would remember doing so.

The representative kept putting me on hold to confer with someone (shows that she doesn't know what she's doing). At the end of the fruitless conversation, she asked if she helped me with all my questions, which definitely shows that she's ignorant. Of course she didn't!

I spoke with my friend (fellow AT&T customer) and she has heard that a lot of people have similar issues with AT&T adding unauthorized features and charging extra for them.

In my book, AT&T just sucks up time and has incompetent people working for them and are very dishonest. They need to send their employees to public speaking seminars to make sure they don't talk down to their customers.

I will not be an AT&T customer anymore!

There's something wrong with your story. The Iphone data plan is $45 a month. And at least in New England AT&T doesn't offer roadside assistance.
