I bought a 'big dog' hot dog cart from this company and it came incomplete (not wired) after asking them to fix it they have offered to do so for $50 an hour... saying some assembly was required (which was NOT on the advertisement page for the big dog cart)
Furthermore their 'free education' videos mention a bond you can get for like $50 a year that covers the owner of a cart if they want to rent it out and when I asked for clarification I basically got dismissed out of hand and they could provide no such information or bond - I wonder if they are exaggerating to make sales? Anyways, My main complaint is about the incomplete product and offer to charge me to fix their mistake. (That includes my having to drive the cart hours to get back to them to even let them fix it, cause I don't know how to wire trailers)
Not a huge deal, not even a huge expense - but figured people should know.

As for wiring issue it turns out it was the battery ends of a flat bar battery something I had never heard of (honest mistake) so it was wired correctly I thought the loose wires were just not wired correctly

Every person I've called or my potential renters have called has received the same answer from the insurance companies in this regard they don't know what kind of bond you are talking about and when I asked Ben directly he didn't know either. There are insurances you can buy to cover the owner incase of damage but nowhere near the 50/yr price Ben was talking about in his videos iirc (going on memory) I encourage people to call yourself to verify this. Furthermore I hope any others wronged by this company come forward I can see why he says 1 in 9 years - he makes up stuff and then tries to threaten legal action to scare his honest customers with honest complaints into silence and retractions. I saw him threaten someone on roadfood forums with lawsuits as well whom didn't deserve it before he backed off and apologized to the guy

That's a well thought and well worded accusation of fraud and attempt to shame a customer who signed that paperwork in good faith after being told all systems worked. Many of those emails exchanged down the road went into this very topic of why this cart was never finished (which predate my question on the other cart I looked at buying and did not buy as a matter of public record this could easily be verified via titles - I only ever bought the first cart) and while it's a well made cart I suppose and while Ben has always been polite (until called on selling incomplete cart of course) So here goes 1) I bought cart and upon picking it up was told it was complete ( of course could not test the parts that were incomplete because it has no water or batteries to run them so I got duped and believed) 2) after a struggle to get permitted which involved having to grind off rough/sharp edges of cart and much more I finally got going without the unworking parts thanks to Nc law I didn't need a working sink or water or water heater (wasn't happy but it got me working) This is after contacting Ben about the issue and them telling me it's easy to wire and basically leaving it to me(maybe it is, but I don't know how to wire things and wouldn't wanna ruin a cart I'm paying 5 grand for when it's a manufacturing issue) 3 I moved to tn and the laws are different I requested help on fixing this issue even offering to drive 3 hours one way to their shop and was told they would be happy to help at $50/hr (which is why we are here) Now I was mildly irritated before, but now he's outright slandering me by saying I'm trying to swap carts with another similar cart and get free repairs and furthermore threatening me. Well bub - you just screwed up. No one threatens me and gets away with it. See you in court one way or the other.i

Mon, Mar 27, 2017 at 12:57 PM Customer email:

"winstonsalem.craigslist.org/for/6059716544.html
Ben I found this cart for $700 (one of yours, used) on craigslist, it has a minor issue with hot water heater (never use sink anyways on my current big dog cart) but I could use a second cart if this price would work. Would his not having a title only a bill of sale be an issue with the state?
Would I need to get both carts permitted, their identical, i doubt the city could tell them apart.
[name redacted]
Greensboro NC/Guilford County"
_________________________________________________
Note: Customer states "one of yours... i doubt the city could tell them apart" Customer includes the issues in used cart he's considering buying which are the same as the ones stated in the emails when he recently requested to have the cart fixed under false pretenses and was told their would be a shop charge.
*we have reason to believe this customer bought a used cart and is attempting to claim that he bought it from us and now needs assembly completed at our cost / This may not be the case but either way we have demonstrable and irrefutable video evidence that this customer picked up his cart, was given a thorough demonstration and signed to that fact
Customer's complaint includes another statement:
" I basically got dismissed out of hand and they could provide no such information or bond - I wonder if they are exaggerating to make sales?"
Here is the copy verbatem:
June 9th, 2017 10:06 AM: Hey brother, got a question about the big dog cart - does it meet Utah codes? I've moved off grid in tn and have a friend who might want to rent it in Utah. Also I cannot track any kind of bond that would cover non payment from a renter like your video said, been calling places, please advise!
Our response:
Fri, Jun 9, 2017 at 10:10 AM
Hey [name redacted].
Your friend would need the bond. He calls his insurance company, gets a bond for let's say $10,000 and you're listed as the loss payee.
______end______email______
Note: we responded: "he calls his insurance company, gets a bond..."
Answered in full.
