I ordered a TV from Bestbuy.com in late August. I previously worked for Best Buy and understand the difference between a RewardZone Mastercard and their Best Buy credit card. During the purchase process over the phone, I repeatedly asked the phone representative if my card RewardZone Mastercard qualified me for their special 3yr, 0% interest financing and was told I would get that promotion. Fast forward to mid-September and my bill says I am being charged over 14% APR for my purchase. The four weeks after that I placed five phone calls to Best Buy and they assured me they would put my name in an Excel sheet which HSBC would use to update my financing. When that didn\'t work, I called HSBC and they have no knowledge of such a sheet. They said there is nothing at all they can do to resolve my interest rate. I called back to Best Buy and they told me it would easily be solved by their promotions team. Five days later, a Promotions Rep called me and after a lengthy discussion, was told there is nothing they can do, but to try Customer Relations. Customer Relations then said there is nothing they can do and to call 1-888-BEST-BUY, the same number I had been using 7 weeks prior. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was told they were all busy and they would call me back in three days. During all of this I am being charged interest on my purchase. Between the bank and Best Buy I have made over 20 phone calls and spent more than three hours on hold or talking to someone. It is no longer a matter of if I can pay the TV off or not to avoid interest, but rather a matter of being lied to about a promotion and the extremely poor customer service that has been offered after the fact.

I work at Best Buy, and for a while, at Customer Service. The RewardZone Mastercard application clearly says "Earn up to 4% in rewards", while the Best Buy card clearly says special financing 90 days, 6 months, and longer promotions...
I am sorry the person on the phone gave you bad information... it could have been fixed easilly if you simply returned the item and had it re-rung with a BB card.
The "Excel Spreadsheet" they were talking about is probably a "term-change" form. It is used when the Point Of Sale system does not give the cashier the option to pu the purchase on a extended interest-free term... but that still has to be with the BB card... not the Mastercard.
If you really did work at Best Buy you should have understood the financing.... and even if you ddn't, they make it pretty clear in the store.

You claim you worked for Best Buy and "understand the difference between the Reward Zone Mastercard and the Best Buy credit card". You clearly do not. Even though a salesperson on the phone mistakenly told you that you would receive 0% interest for 3 years on your Reward Zone Mastercard, you should know better. The Reward Zone Mastercard is financed through Mastercard while the Best Buy credit card is financed through HSBC. How do you expect Mastercard to offer you 0% just because the store's promotion is 3 years no interest??? Its clearly stated in their weekly ads as well as their website that the no interest promotions are only valid on the Best Buy credit card. So you are mistakenly accusing Best Buy of not honoring their financing plans. The only way to get the 3 years no interest on your purchase is to just return the purchase to your RZMC and repurchase it on a BB card. But you're probably outside the return policy. You wouldn't be wasting so much time on phone calls placed to a bunch of numbers if you knew the terms of YOUR CREDIT CARD.
