Blast Fitness READ THE FINE PRINT Amherst, New York

Beware of unethical business practices.

If you are a former Bally Fitness member, Blast Fitness on East Robinson Rd. in Amherst will try to  change the provisions of your contract; including   cost and duration.
The absence of a contract is still in your favor due to Past Practice caselaw.

There are many other gyms in the area that are superior to Blast Fitness.

PROS:
-It's large and rarely crowded.

CONS:
1. It's poorly maintained:
a.) Continual roof leaks
b.) Minimally air-conditioned in the summer.
c.) Since Blast took over, I've never seen one employee wipe down a machine.
d.) Small details are overlooked. The paper towel dispensers often run out.

2. The locker rooms are filthy and smell like mold and old a*s crack. Seriously, you can't put an automatic air-freshener in there?
3. The Pool? Forget about it. It looks and smells like a petri dish of bacteria and viruses.
4. The employees are indifferent. Although they do occasionally greet you, they rarely look up from their cell phones.
5. The lot is maze of potholes.
6. The rear parking lot is adjacent to the Looney Acres Housing Project, several years ago on the day after Thanksgiving, approx. ten cars were broken into by having their windows smashed.
I know that car theft is not as common as it once was, but it still happens.
7. If you have a question about billing, they won't even talk to you. They defer you to the Blast Home Office. I actually did get through after 5 minutes, and the Blast employee was helpful.

Before you sign a contract, which I don't recommend, take it home read all the FINE PRINT. If they don't allow you to do so, walk away and warn others.

Blast Fitness is using ABC Financial- do a quick search of this company, they have many complaints.
