This is a sorry excuse for a college. Their so-called "admission representatives" say whatever they have to in order to get students to sign up. They lie about everything - the amount of financial aid, the classes, the programs, the degrees, and the prospects of getting a job upon graduation.
There is no doubt this is a for-profit school. The bottom line is money, and the students' education comes last. Students are told in the admission sales pitch that they'll actually be paid to come to school there, when in fact every student leaves tens of thousands of dollars in debt. And by the time students have figured out what's going on - that they've been all but robbed - they've already signed the paperwork.
Once the students are enrolled and under the financial thumb of the school, all pretense is dropped. The money the college gets from the loans these students have taken out is clearly the only important thing. Some of the staff and professors try to make the best of a bad situation for the students, but it in no way makes up for the fact that these students have been duped into going into huge amounts of debt with little chance of making it up.

My Story
AUTHOR: ComputerGirl - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Tuesday, February 16, 2010
I went to Bryan College on the Topeka, Kansas campus twice. My family tried to warn me not to go to that school even back in September 2006. I wish I should have listened to them, and I even had a teacher told me go to Washburn University, I'm smart enough to go to a real 4 year college. I didn't listen to her, either. At the time, I was 23, naive, young, and wanted a career change so badly to the Computer Networking field that I fell for Bryan College's commercials that airs on Fox. I was tired of working at the job I was working for. I learned a lot about Networking, got A+ certified, etc., but I couldn't find an IT job in summer 2007. Tried nine months from December 2007 until September 2008 to find an IT position but I couldn't find anything in IT. Their Director of Career Services on the Topeka campus isn't much help for employment placement except having me volunteer at a local computer store which didn't want to hire me and I had student loans to repay back at that time. Or, telling me to keep on trying. What kind of advice is that? An Admissions rep called me up in October 2008 and told me they are having a new Associate's degree in CIS - Networking program starting on December 1, 2008.
I thought, "Why not?" I enrolled, took the exams, went for 14 months again, learned a lot on network security, Windows Network Client, Exchange Server 2003, met the teachers I had agian, etc. I graduated on February 5, 2010, won't get my degree until May 21, 2010, feel I got suckered out of my money again, and still can't find an IT job due to the recession and very competitive job market where I live. This one girl who is in the same program I was in has to pay back $30K for both programs (Associate's and diploma programs). She has a 4 year old son. I feel sorry for her. Thank godness I'm only in debt for $19K for both programs, and this is my lesson learned: this is the last time I'm falling for some for proft "college" that air during Judge Mathis, Judge Brown, The Simpsons, etc. Now, I'm stuck paying back $19K to the federal government for loans that I can't walk away from, and, three years later, I got no IT position to show for it. When it comes to hiring, it seems HR and the Hiring Manager would rather hire grads from Washburn University, KU, KSU, their family member, next door neighbor, spouse, best friend, etc. They aren't going to hire a graduate who went to Bryan College, got a 2 year degree, and done an internship. Not when they got grads with 4 year degrees in IT who is desperate for work.
I agreed with your comment about this sorry excuse of a college. I wish I should have went to Washburn University, now.
