Today, Wednesday, January 25, 2011, I received a phone call by a gentleman that said he was with the Financial Investigative Services regarding money I owed for a loan I supposedly received. I did not receive a loan. This gentleman gave me the name of Carl Cooper at 415-236-1921 and that person would give me all the information.

I called that number, asked for Carl Cooper, was told he was in a meeting and that the person answering my call could help me. He asked me first if I had an attorney and I wanted to know why I would need an attorney. I had a difficult time understanding the man because of his accent. He told me I received a loan, his company tried to recoup money from my bank account, had no luck and that the State Police would be coming to my house to arrest me and I would have to go to court for bank fraud. I tried to explain that I did not receive any money from any loan services.

He did have my social security number and asked for my bank information at which time I told him I would not give him any information. I was practically screaming at him because he kept speaking over me, he told me I would have to pay back $8000!!!  I told him, again, I did not receive a loan and he repeated that the State Police would be arresting me and I had to go to court tomorrow (sure, yeah, I'll be there).

He then said "have a nice life" and hung up on me.

The fact that he had my name, phone number, and social security number makes me very uncomfortable. What is going on??  I thought about calling back and asking for an American English speaking supervisor but decided against that option.
