I actually had a Sprint account which was cancelled due to their inept billing practices. My account was referred to Cavalry Portfolio Services for collection.

My balance increased by $200-$300 dollars from the time I cancelled to when I was contacted by the collection agency. I was contacted in December 2004 and told that they would settle the account for $450.00 and write-off the additional $187.53. I set-up a check by phone which was processed.

I did not hear anymore from Cavalry Portfolio Services or Sprint until today, April 5, 2005, when we( my husband and I) contacted Sprint. My husband was contacted by last week Sprint since someone tried to active his phone which was stolen several months earlier. When he questioned selling the phone back to Sprint he was informed that the value could be applied to his balance. He questioned the balance and was told to call Sprint. A supervisor (Catrina) in the Sprint collecitons Department explained that the $450.00 payment was reprorted but that we still owed a balance of $187.53 and that we had to contact "Calvery" to have the information corrected. She refused to provide us with a telephone number or address for "Calvery" and questioned why we did not know who we paid. Even after we explained that we no longer had the contact informaiton as it has now been four months, she was uncooperative and eventualy disconnected the call.

After hours and hours of searching the internet I finally happened upon this website and I am stunned by what I have read. I thoroughly beleive Sprint & Cavalry Portfolio Services are working together to defraud people. I contacted Cavalry to try and have the records corrected with Sprint but to my surpise they suddenly have no record of ever having our account. They could not locate our account by name, social security number or telephone number.

Now what? I would pay it but I have no confidence that I will receive the credit or that my credit rating would be restored and the original problem is that I do not owe the balance. I was overcharged for months due a problem Sprint was incapable of correcting.

If anyone has recommendations or suggestions please let me know. I am contacting my local consumer investigator in an attepmt to expose Sprint & Cavalry Portfolio Services.
