We have a small business and have decided to put the products on a website to reach more people.  We have been working hard on the website and my husband decided to look into getting a shopping cart software and then realized of couse, that we would need to find a provider to accept credit cards on our sight.  Not sure if we would qualify he filled out the application at Charge.com
Later that evening he realized that it would be much wiser to go ahead and finish the website (as it is still not ready for publication) and then he would look into the credit card service because he did not want to be paying a monthly fee for a service we were not using yet.  He sent a cancellation letter before he was even notified if he had been approved.  Also during the application process it was asked if he wanted to accept/apply for American Express; it gave a yes/no option and he chose no.
In answer to his cancellation email, he was sent an email back saying he would have to talk to Randy in order to complete the cancellation; but Randy never answers his phone at the number given to us.  About a week later we recieved a denial letter from American Express which was frustrating because we did not want to apply for it in the first place.
About three days after that we noticed a 54.95 transaction on our bank statement from MERCH SRV BNKCRD FEE, there was no contact information but I looked online and found the complaints here on RIPOFF.com (thank goodness)  We called our bank and stopped the charges and we told that we need to close our account because they now had our routing numbers and that even if the bank stopped payment for that particular transaction, that they have seen it time and time again when the company will charge under a different name.  I tried again the next morning and afternoon to call Randy 3x without a return call, so I reported to the BBB and my husband went to the bank the next day to close our account-what a hassel, we have had our account for a long time.
Well, I guess charge.com is beginning to realize that people are onto them because the credited us back our 54.95 (amazingly), but our banker still thought it wise to close our account now that our routing numbers were out there.
We will now stay with paypal or look for a far more reputable company than the hidden charge masters at charge.com to handle our credit card processing.
