Circuit City offers various "no interest for X months with payments." This is supposed to mean as long as you make minimum payments there will be no interest for the advertised number of months. BUT: If you then buy something else that does not have such terms, interest will accrue on that item. That's okay... but they don't let you apply payments first to charges that have interest. Your payments are only applied to the non-interest parts of the account. This means that if you make the mistake of buying more from Circuit City, you will never be able to take full advantage of the no-interest provisions. That part of the balance will go down faster than you bargained for, while interest piles up for the other items.

In contrast, BEST BUY will credit your payment first to the parts of the account bearing interest, and then to parts of the account with no interest. This means they honor the no interest financing advertisement they make.
With Circuit City, they say on their site "We're with you." But read the fine print on the back of the bill: "Bank One will apply payments in the manner most advantageous to us" (meaning the bank)

The Fine Print

AUTHOR: Byron - (U.S.A.)

Clearly, I think that the representative who "deals with customers like you all day" needs to find another job in which her other skills could be utilitized, because apathy is not one of her stronger suits. However, she is right, but did not use appropriate words. The clear solution is to inform the company (Circuit City) of your decision to shop elsewhere and of the reason why. If enough customers complain to the merchant, then they may revoke the right, yes it IS a right, of Bank One to finance Circuit City customers. Furthermore, return any purchases to Circuit City, if possible, and repurchase the same items at Best Buy. Nothing speaks louder than a punch in the pocketbook.

Read the Fine PRINT!!!

Oh please try reading the fine print. The information is clearly written in your cardmember agreement. I deal with people like you all day long. It clearly states (and no it is not in teeny tiny print it is clear) that all payments would be applied to the lower interest rate first.

In the future how bout you read the contract that you sign? Would you buy a car without reading the contract first? If so then you deserve to be given stupid erroneous fines.
