Constant Contact, a generally reputable email marketing firm, has a scammy practice that works like this:



You can "prepay" for a year of email newsletters, but if the number of subscribers rises above a set limit, fees will as much as triple, abruptly and without your knowledge. 



In fact, it seems this information is kept intentionally secret, so the company may push abusive, scam fees as high as possible, and back email account owners into a corner, pressuring them to "refill" their accounts, or their emails will be canceled.



I have given the company a week to rectify this, after which I will file a complaint with our attorney general, and consider filing in small claims court.
