Back in October or November 2005, I was contacted by a Christina (((ROR REDACTED FULL NAME FOR SECURITY PURPOSES))). She said she was a representative of Copeland Marketing Corp.. She wanted to list my timeshare for me and said the cost was $699.00. I thought that price was a little high but Christina assured me it was 100% refundable upon sale of the timeshare.
She said that Copeland Marketing had a very high turnaround on sales, and, in fact, stated that they ( Copeland Marketing) had very few listings left due to the various happenings in Florida...e.g. Daytona 500,and some big bicycle event that attracts lots of tourists.
She also stated that the company also sent out letters to prospective buyers luring them in with offers of free overnight accomodations, free dinners, etc. She stated that the company put out alot of money advertising and that the response was tremendous due to the large tourist industry in and around Daytona Beach.
Christina also told me that she worked on commission and that was another reason Copeland was successful. The more sales, the more money the representatives made.
Well, needless to say, I was suckered in, hook, line and sinker. I have yet to receive any potential proposals or offers on my timeshare.
When I do call and ask to speak to Christina, I am redirected to someone else, usually the switchboard, or, whoever is answering the phone. I am told that Christina is strictly a listing agent and doesn't speak with the sellers, that "Oh yes, we did have a few clients interested in your property, BUT, they didn't qualify or pass the credit report check."
I wasn't even aware that Copeland Marketing Corp. was a ripoff until today, when I read it, and my suspicions and feelings were confirmed. My worst nightmare came true. Everyone I know told me not to trust Copeland Marketing Corp., that it was a ripoff, but, I didn't believe them.
I did my "homework" and checked them out and they appeared to be legitimate at the time. Oh well, so much for that.
What, if anything, can I do to solve this dilemna?
