Cross Country Moving And Storage Moving Company in DC area: a rip-off by dishonest people Kensington Maryland

The moving company Cross Country Moving and Storage ripped me off. While we occasionally run into incompetent people providing low-quality services, this one is different: they have a bag of well-developed tricks to rip you off.

People at Cross Country Moving and Storage have come up with a fairly sophisticated act to (1) get you to sign papers that can have information added after your signature; (2) charge you by the weight of the truck while keeping you from witnessing the weighting of the truck at the weight station (blamed on "scheduling misunderstanding"); (3) they blatantly overcharge you AFTER they have your belongings (charge was about 200% higher than estimate - does that look like an honest mistake to you?!); (4) once they have your belongings, they refuse to provide you evidence of the charges/truck weight and blackmail you with veiled threats of delays in delivering your belongings or not knowing where they are stored; (5) they have a lot of fine print in the contract and contract language to curb your rights and ability to get compensation (no one should have to worry about a lawyer during a move).

In short: people at Cross Country Moving and Storage are crooks and cannot be trusted (which is worse than just being incompetent). I can provide documents and pictures to support my statements if needed. But I suggest you really choose another company if you want peace of mind when you move. In time: I have a perfect credit history and driving record, i.e., I play by the rules and do not make frivolous complaints/accusations, but I do speak out for fairness.
