I wonder why Sprint would ever use a company that would fail to post their address, phone number, or any contact information on their website. Upon visiting Debt Recovery Solution's website, there is no company information, affiliations, or credentials. After two failed attempts to resolve a three year delinquent Sprint cell phone bill, I've decided to not deal with them and go where someone can actually assist with this matter. I hope the information I provide can assist anyone else dealing with the unethical practices of this unsavory business.

After doing some research, I found Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC is a member of ACA (American Collector's Association). You can file a grievance with ACA. Simply visit their website at www.acainternational.org. In the upper right-hand corner you'll see a hyperlink to "Ethics Complaint?". Complete the form and forward, along with any documentation substatiaing your dispute.
You should familiarize yourself with the laws that govern consumer collection agencies such as Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC. The act is referred to as FDCPA (Fair Debt Colletion Practices Act). Consumer agencies must adhere to the strict rules and regulations set forth by FDCPA or they can be liable and open themselves up to litigation; therefore make certain you document everything, in the event you decide to sue them. You can find the information at www.fair-debt-collection.com.

For example, the agency cannot refuse to funish you with the necessary documentation, validating the debt they are claiming you owe. Unless the can provide an invoice, statement, or other evidence of the debt, you as the consumer can request they cease all collection efforts and request the information be removed from your credit report. You are required, by law, to request the documentation withing 30day of receiving notice of the debt. REad up on FDCPA. It's one way to protect yourself and get at the root of jerks like Debt Recovery Solutions, LLC.

I also sugget writing a letter to the CEO of the company that referred the account to the collection agency. Express your dissatisfation at the manner the agency is conducting business and encourage the company to discontinue all business dealing with the agency. Trust me, the agency will learn to conduct business differently if company's begin to pull their business because of unethical business practices.

This is a trade organization for debt collection businesses and nothing more. If I were contempating suing a debt collector for FDCPA and FCRA violations, I sure as heck wouldn't tip off the trade organization that is in business to help it's members.

The consumer is better of suing the debt collectors who violate the FDCPA and FCRA. This is wear it counts, in their wallets. As more and more consumers successfully sue debt collectors who violate these laws, the industy will become more in compliance with these laws.

I do not recommend any consumer debtor to file a grievance with ACA - IMO, it's better to deal with the courts and law enforcement than a trade association.
