in october of 2008. i wanted to buy a new tree stand for hunting. so i checked the ads and dicks had the cheapest self climber. $86.99. this was on sunday, the first day of the ad.
so i drove to dicks, looked at all the climbers but the one that was on sale was not on the shelf. so i asked a young man behind the sporting goods counter where they were. he said we dont have any, i said when will they be in. they are in todays ad. he told me that they wouldnt get any in. and that they do this all the time. he said that i should see the manager, because he said he was always getting the customers that got mad because there was an ad but no product. so i asked to see the manager.
well to say the least, she was mean and nasty. hey. i just wanted a tree stand that was on sale. she siad well get in line. everyone wants something. wow. i was furious. so well then give me a raincheck. ill get it next week. the young man approched and said. a raincheck would be a waste of my time. tons of people have rainchecks for items that we are never going to get.
about a month later i saw the young man from dicks. i had to ask if they got any of the tree stands in, he said. i dont know. they fired me for telling you the truth. . if you have had a similar experience with dicks. post it here. they are no good. i now shop only at gander mountain. when they say its on sale. it is. and they have it. thats the way it shouold be. jeff.

Im sorry you had a horrible experience.
This does happen and it happens quite often. There are a couple of explaintion for this. Not all Dicks carry the same products, just like the online site and the store were NOT the same thing until Jan. 1st,2009. Some Dicks carry different items depending on the traffic coming through and the demand of most customers. One thing you could have done is have him check inventory of other stores. If they had the specific tree stand, they could transfer it to the store closest to you no problem.
As well as it being just a few months ago our buyers have stopped buying, so its up to us to do it and on top of everything else we have going on, its nearly impossible.
