Dragon is a plastic kit manufacturer, in my case, specifically for armored military vehicles. A couple of months ago I purchased an SS-1c "Scud B" w. MAZ 543 TEL kit from Scalehobbyst, an online retailer. The kit is made by Dragon and is quite complicated with several hundred parts spread out over several sprue "trees".

First of all let me report that Scalehobbyst is an excellent company with outstanding customer service, they are in no way the problem here. When I began assembling the kit I discovered that the "A" parts tree had been omitted from the kit by the manufacturer. I knew this because the kit arrived to me fully wrapped and unopened. When I contacted Scalehobbyst about this they stated they had no more of the kits available to them or they would have immediately sent me the missing parts. They suggested I cantact Dragon directly, which I did.

I was set up with a trouble ticket (#1016624), and after a couple of days told the kit was out of production and parts were not available. They suggested I buy another kit through Ebay. This made me unhappy since the price of the kit originally was $31, and replacement kits through Ebay were running $54.99 at the low end. I wrote back proclaiming my dissatisfaction with their "solution", but never even received the courtesy of a reply, despite repeated atrtempts.

Basically, DragonCare told me I was S.O.L. and then 'hung up' on me.

Scalehobbyst did agree to refund the price of the kit, and while that type of excellent customer service is their hallmark and I am very grateful to them, I still am out a significant example of the vehicle I needed for my collection, since it appears I will never be able to replace it. I simply cannot afford it.

Beyond that, however, the callous disregard and out and out rudeness of DragonCare must be noted by model builders and caution exercised when using their products. I will not, of course, ever purchase anything made by them in the future.
