I had recieved an outfit from my Mother-in-law for my birthday, and she told me that if I did not like it or if it didn't fit I could return it. She sent me the reciept so there would not be a problem. I went to the store nearest to me and they gave me a hard time and said that if the tags were not on the items that they could not return them.
I told the woman that I had the reciept, and was told that this was all I needed to return the items. She then returned the items, but changed the amount on them. I thought that if the reciept was present that the amount shown would be the amount given back. I was very disappointed with this place of Business. I will not go back there again, and will tell my friends and relatives the same.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
Stores can stand to lose a lot of money at the hands of such people
AUTHOR: C.c. - (U.S.A.)

I was formerly in retail management and hope that I can offer you a suggestion to prevent this from happening in the future. When you get a gift with a receipt, check the receipt very carefully for return policy information; this can usually be found on the back of the receipt. Stores are required to either post their return policy in the store or provide you a copy of that with your purchase. Sometimes in order to get the full value of your refund, the policy will stipulate that the merchandise needs to be returned within a certain number of days. Stores do this because if an item stays in stock for thirty days or more, most likely it will be marked down to clearance or put on sale. Most return policies also require that all tags be attached to the merchandise when returned. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people out there that will try to scam retailers by returning things that have already been worn. Stores can stand to lose a lot of money at the hands of such people. If you did return the merchandise within the allotted time and with all tags attached, go back to the store and ask for the phone number of the district or corporate office and file a complaint. Also, when purchasing clothing or other such items as a gift to someone, ask the store to give you a gift receipt. This way the store has to honor the price paid for the gift, regardless of the current price. I hope this helps!
