First Choice Emergency Room Rip Off, Over Charged, Misleading San Antonio Texas

I went to First Choice on a Sunday evening after suffering all weekend with severe shooting ear pain and a 102-103 fever. I didn't know if I could wait until Monday to try to get in to see my primary care physician because I wasn't able to sleep and my fever would not break. I wasn't sure what was wrong with me other than me ear was killing me. I went to this location because it was down the street from my house and I have been to similar operations in the past when I've been in a bind. 

I paid a $150 co-pay upon arrival. I thought this was a riduculous charge given that I have good insurance and have paid $100 at similar free-standing ER locations in the past. But, I paid it. During my 10 minute visit I consulted with a doctor. That was it. He didn't give me any medication - only gave me a prescription for medication. I didn't have blood or urine taken. I didn't have any scans. I was in and out after 10 minutes with an inner and outer ear infection with a written prescritpion in hand. Even though I had to pay $150 I thought it was worth it to have a prescription for some pain medication that would help me overnight. 

About a month later I got a bill from FCER stating that I owed another $234. This was after they charged my insurance an additional $2,200 after my co-pay!! My insurance paid them $1,100. I paid them $150 and they still demanded another $234. You have got to be kidding me. What a rip-off artist! I'm writing this review after getting a bill from them every month for the last five months demanding payment or my account will be sent to a collections agency. I just refuse to pay this amount after they all ready collected nearly $1,300 for a 10 minute visit (5 minute consultation) with a doctor for an ear infection. Yes, I should have waited until I could see my primary care. I just got worried after going all weekend with the symptoms not knowing what was wrong with me. And, I've gone to similar establishments for high fevers, etc and paid a $100 co-pay and never heard another word! Those places charged my insurance and after they got what they could from insurance they were done. 

First Choice wanted to make a stab to take another dip in my wallet - probably because people don't go back to this place after getting ripped off in the past. They're desperate. 

Don't ever enter the doors of a first choice! There are too many other emergency and minor emergency clinics out there for those that either don't have a primary care or need a place on the weekend/holiday when the primary care isn't available. I will never step foot in one of these places again and I will tell everyone I know to never go to one!
