I received a letter in the mail for debt consoludation from Freedom Financial Management. I had about $10,500.00 in credit card debt and contacted Freedom for assistance. Freedom stated to me that they could get my debt to $7,000.00 dollars over a period of a year and a half. I would pay them $400.00 dollars a month which would go into an account and the creditors would be paid in one lump sum and that my credit score would not be effected. When I began the program I received a welcome package and phone calls from my representitive who stated she was Naomi, a lawyer that works with Freedom. After a few months of payments I received several past due notices from my creditors and I contacted Freedom. Freedom advised me to ignore the letters and fax them to their business and that they would contact them to stop sending me bills. Against what they advised me, I contacted my creditors and they all advised me that Freedom only contacted them once, by mail.
I again contacted Freedom, who take out their percentage from the first few payments, and was not contacted back. After about thirty phone calls over a period of a week I was contacted by Joyce who told me she was working with my file. I asked what had happened to Noami and she did not have an answer for me. Joyce never answered any of my questions directly and later ignored evrey call I made to her. Prior to this Joyce stated that she did not work for free and asked me if I did. I got a summons in the mail advising me I was being sued and when I contacted Freedom they stated they could not gaurentee that I would not get sued.
I was contacted by Cindy, who after several minutes of speaking did not resolve any questions or concerns I had. She then told me that she was trying not to lose her patience with me. She requseted an additional $7,100.00 in lieu of going to court. I stated no and advised her that that would be more then my original debt and she said she knows and that Freedom was working very hard to settle my debt. She later told me that if I dropped the program I would not receive their fee back. I asked her if she was a lawyer or anyone was and she stated she was not and no one in the company was, they were debt consoltants.
I asked if I should hire a lawyer and she laughed stating that it would only benifit me to stay on the program. I have since not received any phone calls back. I contacted and left messages with every number and extension that they provided which coinsidently all go through the Joyce's voicemail.
A friend of mine is currently working with the program and called while I was at his house. It is the begining stages and they call him regularly to assure him that they are there to help (but they have not received their full fee yet). Please do not use this company. Contact your creditors on your own to lower your debt. I have more debt then when I started and my credit score is destroyed.

Hey Ryan,
Can you answer these questions for me please:
How is Richard A. Lenard (Attorney) is working for Freedom Financial Management? Are you guys splitting the retainer fees together? or is Freedom referring clients to Richard and is giving Freedom a kick back? Isn't Richard breaking the C.A Bar code laws by sharing the retainer agreement? How come no one has reported Richard to the C.A Bar? Hmmmmm I wonder?

Freedom Financial Management-Company Response
AUTHOR: Ryan Alexander - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Wednesday, April 29, 2009
My name is Ryan Alexander and I am a representative of Freedom Financial Management. I have read the above complaint and I am concerned on a number of levels.
First, as wonderful a tool as the internet can be, there is an inherent danger that all legitimate businesses must deal with when it comes to anonymous message boards such as this. As I write this, we are servicing the needs of copious clients, yet the results from an internet search produce only a half-dozen or so complaints-none of which give you or me their full name in order to verify their testimony. This brings me to my first concern: on an anonymous message board, how can you the consumer be assured that the very complaints posted here are not actually posts from our competitors or the credit card companies themselves that would love to see our company fail and our reputation damaged? I can tell you that with the amount of conflicting and incorrect information given in this report, I have my doubts. First, we do not have an employee by the name of Naomi, nor have we ever. We certainly do not have an attorney named Naomi that works for us and any employee that claimed to be an attorney that truly was not would have their employment terminated immediately. Second, if any employee made the claim that this program would not affect a client's credit score, they too would have their employment terminated immediately. As a matter of fact, every client must complete a recorded compliance call and one of the questions asked of ALL of our clients is whether they understand that their credit WILL BE AFFECTED. Third, the alleged client acknowledges in this very report that the creditors would be in one lump sum with funds that he or she had accumulated in an account. How then could it have been a shock that their credit would be affected? Fourth, all of the voicemails for our Client Service Representatives provides the caller with the name and extension of their direct supervisor. Why didn't the client call in and demand to speak with a manager? All of these factors lead me to believe that this is not a legitimate complaint by an actual client, but rather the rants of a competitor or creditor. To further my point, Coca-Cola has over 18 complaints on just this website and Pepsi has an additional 31. But is anyone really going to stop drinking either beverage as a result of these findings?
Second, anonymous message boards do not provide the whole story. I think all would agree that there are generally 2 sides to every story and thus websites like this that allow virtually anything to be posted without taking the time to hear from other parties should in the least be considered irresponsible and at worst publishers of libelous content. Why didn't this alleged client indicate what their credit score was when they entered our program? Why didn't this alleged client share in this report what hardship they experienced that caused them to come to us in the first place? The point is, websites like this provide a platform for anyone to come along and say anything without recourse. They can cut or stretch the truth anyway they see fit in hopes of damaging the reputation of a very legitimate business-a sort of Procrustean bed if you will.
Finally, Freedom Financial Management has gone to great lengths to ensure that our clients have a satisfactory experience with our service. Here is a partial list of steps we have taken and accomplishments we have achieved:
-In March of this year alone we settled on more than $250,000 and over $750,000 since the end of 2008. Copies of actual settlements can be viewed on our website.
-Our Client Service Representatives are required to contact each of the clients in their case load at least one time per week (which the alleged client acknowledges taking place with his or her friend that also enrolled).
-Our clients must accurately complete a financial budget worksheet proving that they can afford the term and payment that they have agreed to.
-Our clients must sign a disclosure page detailing the nuances of the program and how it works including how their credit will be affected and when their creditors will be paid.
-Every client must complete a 20+ question recorded conversation testifying to their understanding of the how the program works including how their credit will be affected and when their creditors will be paid.
-Every employee email signature includes the email address of our Customer Care Department to ensure that all questions, comments, and concerns are quickly and appropriately addressed.
Truth be told these are terrible economic times for so many people and it pains me to know that there are bad, even evil companies out there looking to prey on innocent people. But this goes for virtually every industry and transcends every period of time. Becoming debt-free is a difficult and often times painful process, but there are companies, like Freedom Financial Management, that exist to aid people in this noble endeavor and we take pride in the service we provide.

I just went through this company and like you I was always calling and trying to see what was going on. They had 4grand from me. They are set to lying.. This is what they do. In the beginning of April I emailed a letter, got receipt confirmation from the delivery and that it was read demanding my money back. All of it, including their fees. I got it within 5days. It was deposited back into my bank. I will advise you to send them a letter demanding your money back. With that contact the bbb for la. I believe the web site is www.la.bbb.org, you can do a google search and get the correct on if that is wrong. And let freedom financial know that you are contacting them and the attorney general of ca. You will get your money back. Dont let them get away with what they are doing to people. I didn't let them.
Good luck!!
