I received a letter from Pontiac dated April 2006. It was in regards to my 2002 Pontiac Grand Am GT. Pontiac was reimbursing anyone who paid to have their Hazard Switch replaced at their own expense. I had my Multifunction Switch replaced (4 year old vehicle w/ 20,000 miles).
I sent the required information in to Pontiac since the multifunction switch and hazard switch were similar. I recently received a letter from Pontiac stating that they denied me reimbursement.
After doing research online regarding Grand Am and the multifunction switch, I've found that this is a common problem as well as a safety hazard. Dozens and dozens of people have reported the same exact issue with their Pontiac. One Grand Am owner almost got rearended because his brake lights were not working due to the faulty multifunction switch.
I suggest anyone that has the same problem to contact Pontiac immediately. I plan to print out all the forums where Grand Am customers complained about the same problem as well as write Pontiac a letter demanding reimbursement.
I also plan to contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration as well as my State Attorney General.

I have posted in detail our problem already in here.
Have a certified mechanic check your intake manifold heads and see if any sign of coolant is getting inot your engine. Then have him check both front rotor hub assemblies, as lastw eek, we had Firestone find major problems on both which they say are a known defect in design & quality by GM, and either problme will cause injury or death if not repaired imemdiately!
I have contacted GM, and their PR people treated me like sh**, and tell me they do not recognize any private service repair center- ONLY a GM dealership, and that there have bene no recals or concerns with either problem.
SInce your posts states you have a Grand Am, it is smaller version of our Grand P{rix, PLEASE have your mechanic check these areas and get back to me and all of us here; because I am beyond livind I am to be faced with several thousand dollars in major repairs for a 4 years old "quality built" vehicle and think GM ought to repair or replace this if it is truly such a life threatening hazard.
