self help solution?

AUTHOR: John - ()

I had my share of issues with this company, their accuracy of the bill and the way they handled my case.

One of the main managers I know of was Nancy Merchado. Any time you have a problem with medical billing and collections, you want to document everything you can. Ask who you are talking to, document the date and time, save your phone bills and I ask for all communication to be in writing and give them my mailing address. This way I get copies of everything that went on over a phone transcript that they initiate and they keep.

My thoughts, dispute the bill in writing and demand a validation and verification of the debt. There is a time limit on this, but it is still a good idea to do if you have a problem. You may want to put CC to the collection agencies to let them know you are disputng the bill. Ask for copies of everything in their file. They may not give you everything, but you can demand or ask for it anyway. Ask for a copy of your credit report to the credit reporting angecies too. It will have a log of date and time reported and the medical billing case number and/ or a case number from Gold Key Credit.

Save and keep all of your medical bill receipts. Each bill usually has a medical billing number FOR EACH DOCTOR or hospital. You may want to ask the insurance companies for proof of payment of each specialist for your ecords.

When Gold Key Credit sends you the validation of the disputed bill, it will usually have the contract you signed for medical help, then it should have the medical billing case number from the medical agency in question.

If your medical case numbers match up with your receipts, I wold send Gold Key and the Credit agencies another letter called a DEMAND FOR CORRECTION. As to who to send it to at Gold Key Credit Inc.,  I would send it to ATT: Nancy Merchado if she is still there. Use proff of delivery for this mail. As to the credit reporting agencies, just send it to ATT: legal department. They told me to take it with the reporting agency.

If they refuse to respond to your demand for correction, take your paperwork to a credit repair atty. There is a cause of action that allows them to sue the collection and billing agency for violation of FDCRA. Usually here the attorney gets his fee and you may be promised UP TO 1,000.00. Don't count on it though. Often the atty get their fee and its high due to a contigency undertaking. I have seen cases where the attorney did not get enough money so they took their fee out the plaintiffs settlement money. The good, you have a chance to have erroneous information deleted by the credit reporting agencies.

Before you hire an attorney, look them up to see if they have had some complaints about the way they treat their clients.
