The Goodfellas company called at noon on a sunday afternoon and told me I had the job I applied for, if I could get up to the office before 3pm. That was Aug.30th 2009.
I started on Aug.31st 2009 and drove first to orlando, yes i was in training and driving in the passenger seat was the owners brother who had lost his license because of a DWI.
What a nitemare of a trip, the truck broke down every other state, and I tried to help as much as possible with mechanical repairs rather than waiting for someone on the road so we could keep moving. I drove 9 days with this very unprofessional alcoholic trainer who either was disrespectful to the customers, tried to drink in the truck while i drove, or even one time, tried to purchase marijuana @ one stop!
I couldn't get home soon enough. We went to several different ports up to new jersey and back. It was Labor Day afternoon when I arrived back to florida, but there were still cars on the hauler that had to be delivered to So. florida.
My wife begged me to throw in the towel, but I told her they would use that against me so they wouldn't have to pay me. Well after another day and a half I was home, finished the job, and they still havn't paid me a cent!
The labor board has been involved and says they can only get me minimum wage, still haven't seen that check either! WHAT GOOD IS THE STATE IF THEY CAN'T ENFORCE ANYTHING!
Today is Oct.22,2009 they have changed there name again on the 21st and you can read all the disgruntal consumers who have used them on (((link redacted))).
GOODFELLAS AUTO TOWING, LORD KNOWS I CANNOT BE THE ONLY EMPLOYEE THIS HAPPENED TO!
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME STOP THIS MADNESS!

#2 UPDATE EX-employee responds
Response to Manager

I have read the reports filed for D&D Auto Transport as well as the reports filed under the myriad of names which this company has held. Everytime they get into a "fix" they turn tail and change their name. This is done to avoid lawsuits, prosecution, etc. Sadly, each of the former employees who have filed reports under the various names are telling the complete truth. Faulty, broken equipment, dangerous safety violations, employees paying for lodging from their own pockets so they won't have to sleep in a car in sub-zero temperatures. 35% of the gross is a joke...it's more like 35% AFTER they take out tolls, gas, repairs (large), lodging. There is no "per diem" for food provided. Often I would end up making less than minimum wage for the almost two weeks I would spend on the road.
The owner's brother is definitely one shady character, who has a drinking problem and should not be allowed in a vehicle which is responsible for other people's property let ALONE training someone. If this is evidence of their "high standars" then count me out! Also notice in the manager's rebuttal she gave no specifics. If you read reports filed under their OTHER names (Jersey Shore Transport, Goodfellas Transport, etc) you will see that this is just the tip of the iceberg. If you try to leave this company they will do everything in their power to keep from paying you what they owe you by subtracting any and every little thing they can. On one specific trip the truck broke down, we were stranded; waiting for repairs but when we got back the costs of said repairs and hotel lodging was deducted from our pay. How would this be OUR fault when THEIR truck broke? Why would WE be forced be held financially responsible.
I am happy to say I am no longer employed with whatever they may be calling themselves this week...HOWEVER I STRONGLY caution other people to avoid any type of contact with this company be it as a customer OR an employee.

Tom's story is totally incorrect. Tom did not make it through training due to his own faults and inability to do the job (carelessness & damages). Please be assurred Tom's story is not true. Sadly, Tom is the one with the problems. We strive to have complete customer satisfaction and we will not tolerate an employee who does not meet up to our high standards.
