I moved into Helix realty's building on the corner of delmar and union on 3-1-2013.I moved out in Oct. I paid everything owed before leaving so i thought we were on good terms.I Was behind due to being layed off from my job from 12-6-2013 to 2-13-2014 with no income or unemployment.

I explained this to Amy Levine and Michelle and i asked if i could break my lease early due to the fact that i had unfortunately lost my job and had no way of paying rent. They said no but then started hounded me for rent, then i got an eviction notice and a summons to appear in court for the matter.

After i started back working in feb i started making payments trying to get caught back up on all of my bills and rent the best i could, during that time they racked up on late fees because i couldnt afford to pay the full amount at once.So I announced that i would be moving out in aug but i ended up staying til oct.

So i went into the office and i also sent them an email informing them that i would be moving out in oct. The day that i moved out I didnt hear from anyone at helix.I noticed earlier that week that the gate had been patially open, jammed and beeping which has happened too many times to count since i've been there.

The str towards the parking lot on the back of the building which is savoy is so narrow and usually has cars parked on both sides so i used the front of the building to move my things out.A couple of days after i moved out i get a call from Michelle accusing me of breaking the gate and i told her i didnt break the gate and that we didnt even use the back of the building.

She then apologized and said she thought it was me.2wks went by and i called her and i asked about my security deposit. She said she would send it out around oct 20 2014. She sent it out on oct 28 2014. My deposit was $350.00. They credited me $155.00 and took out $195.00 claiming that they had to fix the gate that i broke.

She said that their maintenance man said i broke the gate. With no proof or facts how is this legal?Am i suppose to let them steal $200 of my hard earned money because they say i broke the gate which the gate was always broke! They are some scam artist. Im in aww that they would try this on me. They didnt even ask me if i did it they just assume.

Which to me sounds like a violation of my civil rights!
