Household Bank automatically activated a new card they sent me without authorization. Ripoff! Salinas Carol Steam California Illinois

i received a household bank card shortly after i had a spinal injury and having my credit destroyed the card seemed a blessing since we needed food it was for $300 limit and they would take out $64or so $ for processing i have been able for the last 2 years to maintain the card sending in minimum payments to keep it up to date

recently i received a new card that i am looking at now which states 'your card must be activated prior to use. call 1-800-926-####. I chose not to reactivate the card until i could get my balance down to cover the fee knowing it would put me over the limit they did it for me anyway and now i am paying not only a over the limit fee but a late fee as well. so when i send in my payment of $30 they charged me back $58. just want to know if it happened to anyone else and if that is legal.

why would they say to call and activate if they were going to do it anyway? i contacted them and asked for a raise on my credit limit just enough to cover the activatiion fee and had no luck. thanks to this site i will not be mailing in the $37 annual fee for this credicorp inc pre approved card for $10000.00 i got yesterday. guess i just got suckered but it sure ticks ya off when a company could help you but won't.
