Excited about a possible career opportunity in marketing, I gave in to a job posting for img and associates on careerbuilder. After being called in for an interview, I arrived to find six other people waiting to be "interviewed," which only took about five minutes for each person. I was called back for a second interview which was going to be a full day interview; should have given me a clue right there.
When I showed up, it took 30 minutes for them to decide which associate each candidate was going to shadow for the day. I was put with a "rising star" as they put it. He didn't have his car so we rode with another group. When we arrived at our location, I was told I wouldn't need the portfolio notebook that they insisted we buy and that my cell phone would be fine in the car. Next thing I knew, the car was gone and I was stuck on one of the most dangerous roads (whitehorse rd) in Greenville, SC. It gets better.
I was then "taught" on how to sell coupon books to individuals and companies for the first four hours or so. We casually walked into stores which strictly said "NO SOLICITING," and yet there we were trying to sell $20 coupon books to people who don't even speak English (if you know anything about Whitehorse Rd.). Then I was treated to a wonderful lunch at McDonald's, which I had to pay for and my mentor was telling me about all the money to be made in the company, lying saying that the manager made $250,000/yr. Come on.
Then we spend the rest of the afternoon crossing roads, being called Jehovah's Witnesses, getting kicked out of Wal-mart, interrupting a funeral home operation and other restaurants. Not to mention that most places already had someone from IMG come by. They don't even mark where they've been. IMG is a sorry excuse for a marketing agency and they claim that they support Charities and even the Atlanta Braves.
I don't think either one would be happy if they knew how they were being promoted (out of a backpack from a door-to-door salesman that doesn't even respect common business law). No wonder our country is falling to pieces.

I went through the same thing expcept they had us soliciting on laurens road.....I'm suprised you made it out alive on whitehorse road...i call that stretch tijuana. I didn't have to pay for my meal because the broke-a*s "level-two moron" I was riding with had ...........wait for it........coupons for fast food. I felt like I was joining a cult. We should organize a protest against these idiots.
