Formerly of "Innovative Eye", Jeremy Vanslambrouck was engaged by my organization to formulate an identity / branding in the winter of 2009. In our initial discussion I expressed the very tight window of time which we had to arrive at a finished logo. While his website claims "Logos in 24 hours", Jeremy indicacted that it would take at least a  few days until he could provide us with concepts.

After a week and numerous vain attempts to reach Jeremy, I finally recieved a few concepts which I found to be quite weak. Look at how masterfully he captures the skyline of Chicago..what a joke! http://www.staged.outofworkchicago.com/images/garbagelogo.png

I had to wait another 10 days to get any revisons back from Jeremy at which point I simply requested my money back. Recognizing his many delays & excuses, he did agree to issue a refund, but he has since then refused to honor his pledge

Here are some examples of what it is like dealing with this t**t:

4/25/09 - After I requested the refund
"I can provide a refund in 3 weeks. Otherwise I can deliver"

6/2/09 - After I filed a PayPal dispute
"I also told you that it was impossible as sales are slow right now for
the refund. I dont even have to refund as my policy is clear and im
doing you a favor and then your going to try filing a dispute? Ill
refund you your money whenever. It will only be half now. Im taking
$50 for my time I put into it for the dispute."

10/31/09 - Threatening me after I indicated that I was to file Ripoff Report
"By the way. I dont allow people to screw me over either. Ill ruin you
as fast you can ruin me. I also am in the SEO game. lets go"

Aside from his poor creative skills, it is his unbelieveably rude and hostile manner  which has motivated me to submit this warning. Above are just some snippets from Jeremy that clearly indicate: a.) he is not very intelligent b.) english is probably not his first language & c.) his customer service skills are horrific. d.) ALL OF THE ABOVE

I only hope that this saves others from having to deal with the likes of Jeremy Vanslambrouck. Read the other Ripoff Reports on Jeremy; I am just 1 of several victims. The only good that came out of this was I was forced to go to another designer who provided me with an excellent logo (http://www.outofworkchicago.com/wp-content/themes/InterPhase/images/outofwork-logo-banner_PUB3.jpg).

NOTE: Jeremy has curiously closed his former website and is now doing business as http://www.customdesignbusiness.com/ A very curious move unless you are running from your past.

Readers: Stay tuned for Jeremy's rebuttal. It is likely to further substantiate his lack of intelligence and pugnacious demeanor.

I had a great experince

AUTHOR: mattyj - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, June 27, 2011

I have used a lot of online/cheap logo resources with little luck.  I have also spent large sums at local designers that produced great resuts.   I have to admit that I almost didn't use Jeremy as a result of this website and the posted Rip Off reports.  However, I'm glad I took the risk.  It's hard to find a cheaper price for the work.  Jeremy reponded to me immediately and provided samples in about 16 hours (8 faster than advertised)

I think that the complains are unfounded for a variety of reasons.  The first being that for $50-$100 I think the hiring party needs to have some idea of what he/she wants, be able to communicate this effectively, and be able to offer good feedback from samples.  Do you expect him to work for $2.50/hr and put in 20 hours of design time?   If you are looking for branding and want to spend $50 for it, I think it's only reasonable to expect to do a lot of the leg work.  Not that Jeremy can't handle it, but because it's $50.  The reason I hired him was that I had some basic ideas and just needed someone to put it in the correct software and file formats.  Even it it didn't work out, it's $50.  I was willing to pay for a few hours of his time, and if it didn't work out, my risk was mitigated to $50.  Most designers cost about $75/hr.

I thought it was important that I create an account here and explain that I had a great experince working with Jeremy.  It's not fair that a good designer's business is damaged as a result of a few unrealistic customers.  I knew what I wanted, expliained this to him, and he executed.   For a $50 risk, if the product wasn't what I hoped, I would have moved to a new designer, and this is exactly what the complainers should have done without trying to harm his business.  It sounds like they were refunded and suffered no harm.  Why try to take him down?  Fact is, he's a great designer, and he's doing work for a flat $50-$.  I'm glad I didn't trust these Rip Off Reports and used him!

Hire Jeremy.  Have realistic expectations of how much effort you should get for $50.  If you don't like that idea, go to a big shop and spend $1000s.  But, Jeremy will do a great job for you.

For crying out loud people. This has gotten OUT OF HAND.

AUTHOR: Simplelogostudio.com - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 25, 2009

So this afternoon a "friend" sent me a link letting me know that there was activity once again on the RipOffReport website concerning myself and Jeremy.  I didn't recognize the email address of the person who sent it to me, and they haven't responded to my email replies as to who they are. Their ambiguous email informed me that people were "talking about my business online," and that I should check it out.

Personally, I think that this anonymous "friend" is just a troll attempting to lure me into the middle of this tangled mess.  I would appreciate if you would please quit antagonizing Jeremy because he inevitably points the finger at me and my business partners.

Jeremy can verify how the two of us even first came into contact: SOME LAME PERSON sent an email to Innovative Eye Logos stating that I, frankD, thought their logos were no good.    Jeremy called our studio and left a message, and then later realized that it was not me that had sent the email to him in the first place (something to do with the IP address I used when actually logging on to his site. I would not be surprised if the same clowns were behind THIS fiasco.

For the record, Jeremy and me had already buried the hatchet before all of these posts started to surface.  I've even made friends with Jeremy's apprentice and good friend, Chris, from Logical Logos (who is supposed to stop through and visit us when he comes to California in December) who can also attest that we have nothing but GOOD VIBES at our studio.

There is MORE THAN ENOUGH WORK to go around, and to be perfectly honest, I'm not sure who pays attention to sites like this anyway.  Give Jeremy a break and do us all a favor -- I'm sure that he is just like the rest of us and is just trying to make a living.

ALSO, for the record, I also have a gmail account and searched for "put your name to shame" but came back with nothing.  There was A LOT of other stuff, but nothing about putting my name to shame.

Jeremy -- it wasn't us, bro. Now let's ALL get back to working on some logos,

respect--

frankD

If you're real

AUTHOR: Innovative eye designs - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 24, 2009

This is a conflict between two designers.  Unfortunately FRANKD is a child and cannot compete in a professional manner. I would never say those things to a client frank. Now stop this or I will see you in court for libel.

I misread your complaint. I refunded you? What was the purchase date. Give me any information about your logo. If your so hesitant about it then your obviously a fake. I would not file fake rip off reports or even get back at you. I'm a professional.  I have issues with customer service (which I solved by hiring customer service reps.) but I DO NOT THREATEN to hurt any client's business.

You better stop this right now who ever is doing this.

I want to be done with this

AUTHOR: Jeremy Ripped Me Off - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, November 24, 2009

I am leaving my final response and will not give in to your rebuttals any further.  Call this a FAKE claim all you want.

You don't even who you tell you are going to put their name to shame.  This is exactly why I won't put the illustration or my paypal out there. You get us all confused.

Look a little deeper using your search option.  Your rebuttal is just proving my original point as to why I know better than to put my business name out there. I'm done with rebuttals.

Claims Are FAKE

AUTHOR: Innovative eye designs - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, November 23, 2009

Your claims are fake and the reasons below are to prove it.

With google (gmail) you can type specific sentences and words in the search mail option to find specific conversations with people. I have never changed my email and I personally read all emails through art directors & designers.  I typed your specific sentences in my gmail mail search option. I did however find one email specifically stating "I'll put your name to shame". With only one individual.  His name is FRANK D.

re: Custom Design Business Highly Unprofessional, Hostile & Rude!!

AUTHOR: Jeremy Ripped Me Off - (United States of America)

POSTED: Monday, November 23, 2009

There is nothing fake about my claims.  I have no idea how I would even show the illustration since I'm hot sure how to put it as as webpage like the other disgruntled customer.

To be honest, I do not feel safe putting this illustration out there for you to see.  How do I know that you would not turn around and file a report on my business?

I was thinking that you would have know which project this was, but maybe there have been too many ?

You even went so far as to say that the guy who filed the report doesn't know what a real logo is and that the logo he liked looked like an amateur design.

What ever happened to the customer is always right?  I'm sure people are understanding why it's hard to work with you.

I know your name because it was the name in the "SENDER" column.  When I hired you to do the work, and it was before the CustomBusinessDesign.com site appeared.

I'm not bitter, and have taken the entire event as a learning experience.

To the latest report.

AUTHOR: Innovative eye designs - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, November 22, 2009

First Report  - Providing Refund to client within a few days. We normally do not provide refunds after the client has chosen redraws or revisions.  I acted in a unprofessional manner before I hired art directors and customer services representatives. I made a mistake and I will make it right. I no longer handle customer service as I am not fit for that job however I am one of the lead designers that will be working on your logo. The logo that was shown was only 1 sample and the skyline of the chicago logo. This client does not understand what a real logo is and unfortunately look at the unprofessional logo that was designed for him. With the refund that I owe you and will provide asap I would like to offer you a free logo so you can update a logo that just does not work. Period. I mean no offense but it looks like it was designed by an amateur. The honest truth. The chicago skyline looked the way it did because it is a W. OWC. You also only showed one sample out of the many we delivered. All which were great and why would you only show one? A logo is supposed to be SIMPLE. Unfortunately not all of our clients understand that and we as professionals try to direct them in the right direction.

To the second report.

Please show this illustration, client name & paypal transaction id and the art director's name. If you do not respond within 48 hours then we know this is a false report made by unprofessional competition who keeps filing fake disputes against customdesignbusiness.com.  I have yet to change my name. If you view our website it says we created innovative eye and we then we changed it to custom design business to bring in traffic, more sales.  I do not deal with customer service at all. How would you know my name? They are sent from the art directors themselves. At customdesignbusiness.com you're working with a professional team of designers and an art director on your project.

24 Hour Logo FAIL

AUTHOR: Jeremy Ripped Me Off - (United States of America)

POSTED: Sunday, November 22, 2009

Like the person above, I was also attracted to the 24 hour promise for the logo delivery.  I was even advised against hiring a graphic artist that advertises 24 hour turnaround by one of Jeremy's competitors, but didn't listen to him until it was too late.

I emailed him back to cancel about 2 days after I was supposed to get the logos, and sudenly was sent a couple of logos that were clearly slapped together.  Something that  could have been created in microsoft word.

I was given the refund about four weeks later after emailing and calling about three times per day.  I was also sent a couple of really nasty email after I threatened to report him.

#1 Excerpt
"I don't have to refund it. It's an illustration. Difference. no refund.  So there.  Quit emailing me and don't think your going to ruin my name. Go ahead and  I'll bring you to your knees."

#2 Excerpt
"Good luck finding a logo designer that will listen to your crap. Your a pain in the a*s and now you see why I didn't want to work with you. Now leave me alone or I'll put your name to shame. I''m in the SEO game so better watch yourself dumbass"

I was just going to let this go until I saw the ad for the CustomDesignBusiness.com website and recognized the junky logos that tricked me the first time and it made me mad to see that he was still up to his old tricks, but with a new business name.

One Final note:  Don't believe the hype, logos that have been designed in 24 hours are going to look really horrible no matter who designs it,  as haste makes waste.  I made this mistake and paid out of pocket for it.  Don't make the same mistake yourself.
