This company call my cell and said i would enter a sweepstakes for a Mustang and 100 gift card. SO the woman names is Monique and she was really nice and told all the information and said that i could win. So i give my card number and she patch me in to a higher employee and he give me a little quiz and took my information down. They were giving me the number to cancel but said it so fast that i couldn't get it. I check my credit card and its says that i receives 2 billing of the amount they said. I try to asked the guy though if i could like cancel my membership but he was like" oh i know what your saying and i know that things happen but we need you to stick with us for the magazine purchase and all". I think i need to cancel my card after i get it off the negative so they wont be charging me money. If anyone got any Idea of how to help me,please let me know.

Solutions after the Phone Scam

I had the exact same thing happen on January 14th, 2013. I received the call, didn't remember the saying "Too Good to be True", and gave my information.
Once I did, they transferred me to a "higher person" to complete this offer for the $100 gift card. I realized that it was a scam when they wanted me to agree to quite a few offers. The offers were so fast with all the information and I wasn't able to write down any information. I told the company that I changed my mind and that I refuse the offer and the other "offers". I asked them to end the deal and they refused. The "Higher Person" actually threatened me by saying since I had already given my information that he had the right to charge my card. I asked to speak to a supervisor above him and he refused, he said that he could not cancel the whole deal without me accepting the offers, I refused. He started yelling at me and so I hung up, this man continued calling me for two days at which I refused to take the offers and repeatedly told him that I refused this "Deal". The calls stopped.
Today, I checked my bank account and there were 6 companies that have charged my account. Fortunately, I was able to get their phone numbers and call them. All of them were connected to the previous phone scam call.
I explained to each company what happened and they reversed all of the charges. I made sure to get their names, the amounts and a confirmation number of the cancellations and reversals of the fees. The only company I had difficulty with was the "Discount Store", they said they could only refund 50% of the money (a total of $46.96). I told her that this was not acceptable as I did not ask for this service, used this service or knew of this service.
Here are the companies and their numbers:
Discount Store: 877-220-4218
Guardian Sales: 888-265-5484
Redeem Magazines: 855-201-1934
FS Rewards: 888-895-2973
Tex*mytechhelp: 877-686-9789
The biggest thing that I learned, I explained to them what happened, calmly and I received the refunds and cancellations. They were very understanding and I maintained my composure and did not get upset with the person on the phone. This way they were very helpful.
I hope that this will help the next person. Remember, If it's too good to be true....it is!!
Thank you,
Marie

Another Victim

I just called my bank and canceled my bank card. I discovered $40 had been taken out of my account from someone I did not know, all it said was "International Reading SVirgin" so I decided to look it up, turns out it was S Virginia and the first website to pop up was this.
I was furioud to find out I had the exact same experience, very nice and friendly man and woman, asked a few questions along with my info. They gave me a number to call to cancel -I only had 3 days to change my mind supposedly. I mentioned I'm on a fixed income and they just made the deal even better, for me you know. I'm going to file an investigation with my local bank. I am sorry to anyone who has dealt with these people.

I just got off the phone with the bank, your bank should be able to give you the number to the International Reading Services. I also went on the Better Business Bureau website and found the company, but when I called they said that the people who contacted me was a different number or something like that. The bank said that if I couldn't get ahold of the people (they are going to give me the number when the charge posts to the account) that I will just have to cancel my debit card. I thought it would be that I had to cancel my account, which is a joint account w/ my husband, but they only asked for my card number and the expire date, my husbands is different. I got lucky there but that's about it.
Name: International Reading Services
Phone: (888) 583-9936
Address: 460 Investors Pl Ste.102

That's the number from the BBB website. You can try calling and yelling at them lol.....post if you have any luck.
I asked the same questions, about cancelling the whole thing and she like, dodged it. Saying I can cancel each individual magazine title and replace it with another, so in other words. NO you can't cancel. It's ridiculous.
