It was pretty sad considering this was to be me and my boyfriend of 6 yrs. first apt. We were thrilled to finally move out of our parents homes only to be brought to an even worse situation. We thought at first this woman seemed nice and we agreed to rent one of her apartments.

I had a bad feeling from the moment she told us she lived in Mississippi.
But then I thought to myself good, she won't be around all the time. Our agreement was to fix up her four apartments and make some major/minor repairs so she could get them rented. I did not like the idea of her making us pay first month's rent, last month's rent, and a security deposit. But us ignorant and desperate for a place of our own became trapped.

She began to order us to do stuff that wasn't on the lease. She entered our apartment at her own free will. She even went as far as removing things (a lamp) from our room. Then as soon as the majority of the major/minor work was complete, she once again entered our bedroom when we were not there and again removed the lamp. Then stated "If we want to use the front studio, the lamp stays in it." And I told her no? I bought the lamp for our bedroom. So she used that as an excuse and said the lease was terminated.

We had done all that work, given her $1500 for rental purposes, and yet we never even moved our things in or spent the night. We had just got to that point where we were about to move in, and she knew it so she unlawfully terminated the lease.

We did not have to leave, we could have stayed because we were paid rent for the next two months, but after I called the police on her for trying to grab my camera, she continued to call the police every time we returned. So we left on our own because we did not feel comfortable nor safe in the apartment.

In agreement to the previous report, we were only allowed to use the side entrance, there were many hazardous mold areas of which she told us to "just cover it with paint so no one knows its there." There were leak stains on the ceilings, the place reaked of mold, a poor functioning window unit, no fridge or stove, concrete floors in bathroom and kitchen (until we laid tile), horrible electrical wiring to whereas a lot of the outlets did not work. And the outlets that did work sparked. And lighting in bedroom only worked half the time.

A very sad experiance for us, as young adults to undergo with our first apartment. Please be aware!!!! Do not rent from this woman! She is a crook and will only rip you off, no matter how good the deal sounds! She would take money from a starving child in ethiopia if she could.

Justice will prevail in court!
