Macy Credit Card Macy department store credit card now partnered with Visa, if you apply for a CC, you will automatically get a visa and the macy's store card Columbus, Ohio

I recently applied for a Macy's department store credit card in the Northshore Mall in MA. When I completed the small pamphlet application, it did not indicate that I would be applying for 2 credit cards- a Macy's department store one and a MAcys Visa signature one.    So here's the thing, if you have good credit and are applying for a Macy's card, they automatically 'upgrade' you to their signature visa. You don't know that you have a Macy's visa until the card gets sent home to you. This is considered 2 lines of credit- 1 for Macy's and one for Visa even though you only get 1 credit card.     I still thought I had one account and would make my card payment to one account. It wasn't until I was reviewing my credit report that I noticed that I had a late payment ding to my credit because MAcys department store said I didn't pay my balance.   All the while I was paying the balance only for my visa card, not the department store one.     Apparently I had to indicate which account I wanted my payment to go to but I didn't even know that I had 2 accounts!     I called customer service and they told me that they would take care of the problem and that this problem seems to happen all of the time...  Its very confusing and wrong for creditors to automatically sign you up for something that you didn't apply for.
