Marilyn Scheer Law Group had contacted me soliciting mortgage assistance nearly two years ago. After paying $3500.00 up front and almost 18 months of aggravation, I'm no closer to a mortgage modification than I was back then. My main complaint is that they were unable to follow through
on their original commitments.

 

I was diligent in submitting and resubmitting documents that Scheer Law Group said were needed by my lender. But those documents did not reach my mortgage company in a timely fashion, so documents invariably expired requiring resubmission over and over and over again. The whole process of dealing with them has been defined by that cycle of madness. Every few months my case was assigned to a new case manager or assistant. This, in itself, constantly put my file into limbo. And the staff at Scheer Law Group also became less accessible as time went on. Lately, they have refused to accept any calls at all, so that tells me they are avoiding some angry customer contact.

 

Twice I have requested a refund of my $3500.00 fee on the basis on non-compliance of our written agreement. I have heard nothing from them to indicate an honest attempt to resolve this matter. So now I am forced to contact the California Attorney Generals Office and the California Bar Association to seek help in this matter.

 

My advice is to avoid any firm that requires an upfront fee.
It would be better to use the services of a HUD approved mortgage counselor.
You'll obtain the same results without the hefty financial losses.
