Walmart can't control this. If they receive a court order to garnish your wages, they can't exactly refuse.

When you are garnished

In order for this company to garnish your wages, several things had to have happened first. One: a lawsuit was filed against you. Two: You or someone in your home is served with the citation, which states "YOU'VE BEEN SUED", and a petition with request for answers. Depending on the court, you only have so many days to answer the petition or contact the company to make a resolution.
Three: If no response is filed on record or you do not make any resolutions with the company, a default judgment is signed against you.
Four: You have only so many days to dispute this judgment.
Five: After all legal delays, the company can now collect on their judgment which could mean a bank levy, a lien against your property, or a wage garnishment.
So why was there no solution when you were initially sued? Now you are at the company's mercy unless you want to pay the account off in full (including all the additional fees to file that garnishment) or you could contact an attorney who will charge you lots of money to try to resolve this matter.
Contact the company and see what needs to happen in order to stop a wage garnishment. They may request that you have to pay the account off in full in order to stop this garnishment. If that is the policy, there are no if, ands, or buts.
A story of too little too late.
