MtgFanatic.com offers a service to buy your used Magic the Gathering cards at set prices. You choose which cards you are selling and are given a value based on their set price. Then, you send your cards to them, which they have to process. At this point, they will remove any cards they do not want or that do not meet their standards and they send them back to you and keep the rest, for which they will pay you a predetermined amount. Their website states that payments will be doled out within 12 weeks.
I made three sales to MtgFanatic.com: 3/10/2014, 3/11, 2014, 3/12/2014. 12 weeks from those dates are 6/4/2014, 6/5/2014, and 6/6/2014, respectively. It is now July 2nd, 2014, and I have not been paid. I messaged the company's customer service multiple times asking about my payment only to have my questions fall on deaf ears as I got no response. I sent my last message on May 27th, asking when my payment would be processed; I recieved an e-mail from customer service with the owner telling me that they could "send my cards back".
The problem with sending the cards back is that the prices on these cards are volatile, and 4 months is plenty of time for card prices to go from high to low based on their relevency in the tournament circle. That being said, I stated that I did not want the cards back, but instead wanted to be paid what I was originally quoted (minus cards they did not want at the time they recieved them). If I had known that my cards would be held for four months, I could have sold them to another company for a similar amount--If I got them back now, there's no telling what kind of loss in value I would see thanks to the company holding the cards for so long.
I think I will get paid eventually, but I'm very nervous that they will attempt to send my cards back without payment and will have essentially cheated me out of the value of my cards. I will never use this service again with this website.
