I was contacted by phone by Brand Dowki 1800-533-5125 ext 140, claiming he was an isnrance Broker. FIRST TIP a ligimate insurance company is not going to contat you by phone, you have to contact them. He was a high pressure sales person. He offered me health insurance through MultiPlan, Inc. The offer sounded too good to be true. In fact it was not true! He ask me some information and put me on hold while he was supposdely processing my applaication. He came back on line and went over the supposedly insurance I would receive. At that point I started asking questions, I reaffermed his name and his phone number, the web site for the insurance provider. Still using high pressure sales style, he wanted me to sign up right then. I ask for his web page, and told him I wold need to do some resurch first. At that point he said "I see where this is going" and hung up the phone on me. What i found out by doing the research is that MultiPlan,Inc is not recognized by the FL insurance commission as an Insurer. Further, that if i had purchased the insurance, I would have not qualified for having insurance all year, and would have to pay the tax penilty at the end of the year. Run do not walk away from any broker or Agent that you did not call yourself or offeres you a MultiPlan, Inc policy.

Just to clear up a few misconceptions....

I am a 30-year experienced life and health insurance agent and I want to add some insight to the presumptions you are making in your post.
MultiPlan is not an insurance company. But, they ARE the oldest PPO physician and hospital network in the US. The agent you spoke to is probably a real agent, but he is mispresenting his product by using the name 'MultiPlan'. His product is a valid and legal insurance product, but it is not an ACA-compliant product as you were trying to explain. They teach their agents to presume you are ready to sign up and don't like to answer any questions with any clarity. I know. I've talked to a few myself posing as a interested customer.
You can choose to buy this plan, but understand it does not meet the definition of a 'minimum essential contract' (MEC) as defined by the Affordable Healthcare Act. As of 12/31/2018, there will no longer be a penalty assessed for not owning a MEC, thanks to Pres. Trump and Congress voting to kill this unconstitutional penalty in Dec. 2017.
This 'MultiPlan' health policy only offers the standard PPO disount that you might expect from a Blue Cross, Aetna, Humana type plan, but they offer very lean benefits payable for services rendered. Sometimes, they pay NOTHING at all. YOU will be left paying a good portion of the cost (from 40-70%) after the charges are discounted down.
Be sure you understand that there are many great health plans on the market today THAT ARE NOT MEC plans and learn more about your agent before you make any important decisions about your health plan. Agents DO call you if you've asked for help online somewhere.
