After searching this site for possible Multiplan Inc. Scams I was surprised not to find any. Although many many similar situations.

I received a real check in the amount of $2980.50 (with JPMorgan Chase Bank, NY on it) and a letter enclosed stating I won $66,000.00 in United States Funds (duh? that's where I live..it should be...) "The System Indicates your name was randomly selected through a computerized ballot system a winner for the THIRD QUARTER of 2009 Sweepstakes draw. Congratulations!!!" Goes on to say that it was drawn from Readers Digest (never read it), Publishers clearing house (never signed up for it), Online Sweepstakes (don't ever sign up for those either) and Internet Games (that I do use but there's never something to enter for a prize on them).

I also noticed my email was written under the reference number at the top. So I assume they got my information from the game sites. Which I don't mind but don't feed me this BS right before the Holidays and when I could totally use this money!!!

The contact agent stated in CYTHINA COOKS 1-450-369-0675. When I called the mail box was full. (which the average cell phone holds 20-30 messages) I laughed and thought-ok sure this is BS from step one, I'm one of 30 now...instead of just the one!) I had to look up the area code 450 is in Quebec, Canada. That explain the United States Funds!

From reading all the scams from last year. It's the same thing they just got on this site and modified it a little bit to make it look more real from what others wrote. For example it does say the $2980.50 covers both the administrative taxes and clearance fees of your winnings. But doesn't state that I need to wire the money anywhere or send them any funds.

I didn't do this but from what others stated. If you cash the check it won't clear and the bank will then go after you. I already hate my bank (Bank of America) and don't even need to spend 1 min on the phone with them trying to explain how they will never get the money back! So DON'T fall for this scam!! Because that's all it is!!! Don't believe something that is too good to be true!!

Unathorized use of MultiPlan's name

AUTHOR: pam - (USA)

POSTED: Monday, October 26, 2009

MultiPlan, Inc. has recently received reports of unauthorized use of MultiPlans name. In one, a letter was received from MultiPlan Financial Group and Consultants, purportedly a subsidiary of MultiPlan, Inc., stating that the recipient had won a sweepstakes, and included a check that appeared to have been drawn on an account of MultiPlan, Inc.

As part of the normal course of business, MultiPlan and our bank maintain financial security controls that guard against this kind of fraudulent activity and such checks will not be honored. If you receive such a letter or have further information regarding this activity, please contact MultiPlan, Inc. at reportfraud@multiplan.com
