EDITOR’S COMMENT:  Ripoff Report strongly believes in the First Amendment, especially when consumers are truthfully warning other consumers about potential frauds, scams, rip-offs or the like by shady individuals or businesses.  Ripoff Report is by consumers, for consumers…and we want to keep it that way!  Unfortunately this Report was posted and, upon additional information, appears to have been primarily for the purpose of bullying or harassment.  In many instances Ripoff Report will reach out to the author of the Report to obtain further information.  In other instances, enough information is provided to Ripoff Report to warrant redactions without reaching out to the author.  Ripoff Report is working to combat tactics that are perceived to be cyberharassment, cyberstalking, cyberbullying and/or what is generally considered a “revenge post” as we do not condone such behavior.

 On October 25, 2013, (((REDACTED))) notified about 12,000 to 13,000 individuals of a risk of identity theft due to unauthorized access to a database used to collect their online application information on (((REDACTED)))y website ("Notice"). The database was compromised by cybercriminals located in the People’s Republic of China. (((REDACTED)))discovered the breach when its customers complained of "phishing" attempts – text messages from an individual falsely claiming to represent (((REDACTED)))and asking the message recipient to provide their account details. The Notice states that the personal information that may have been accessed includes customer names, addresses, telephone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth and social insurance numbers. The Notice states that (((REDACTED)))has arranged for a flag to be placed on the credit files of affected individuals for a period of 6 years to alert companies accessing their credit information of the data compromise. On November 18, 2013, the law firms of (((REDACTED))), commenced a national class action against (((REDACTED)))on behalf of all persons in Canada whose personal information was compromised. Individuals who received the Notice may be entitled to compensation for the breach of their privacy, damages for identity theft and/or damages to their credit reputation, damages for the costs incurred to prevent identity theft, damages for the time spent changing your personal information, damages for emotional distress/inconvenience, and/or compensation for out of pocket expenses. I called (((REDACTED)))of (((REDACTED)))and he was pissed and told me to get lost- told me that (((REDACTED))) is not responsible for any damages as a result of the stolen personal information from (((REDACTED))) website.
