I had a question about formatting a date in an Excel header. I went to microsoft.com for help, but could not find an answer. The website "office.microsoft.com" itself referred me to Omnitech. I clicked on the suggested link, and connected with an agent at omnitechsupport.com. I explained my question and she offered me free assistance for 15 minutes. She took several minutes "researching" my question, then asked if she could remotely control my computer. I reluctantly agreed. She spent a few minutes poking around my computer. By this time well over 15 minutes had passed. She then told me that I had "malicious software" on my computer and she wanted to remove it. I explained that I use Norton Antivirus regularly and asked what this had to do with my simple initial question regarding Excel. She said she would answer my question, but that I also had "malicious software," undetected by Norton, that needed to be removed. I smelled a rat and worried that she herself had installed "malicious software" while poking around. I cancelled the remote control and left the website. I hope that my computer is none the worse off for this interaction.

We, Omnitech Support, are not a scam and we provide cost effective support to many thousands per day, this person obviously had some issue with Excel which is why he contacted us. We do not take remote access to poke around the customers computer and are not authorized to download or install any programs (including third partys) on the customers computer.

Generally, we access the customers computer using standard remote access toll called LogMeIn to check the issue in details and to work on the customers computer to fix the issue, which is indeed required. Our process is very transparent and the customer can monitor every steps performed
by our technician. If they wish, they can immediately terminate the remote access by a mouse click. Our every remote access is being recorded each time and we can prove that we do not install any malicious software by our own.

In this case; this person contacted us with a concern about formatting a date in an Excel header as he could not find any suitable answer available in the Microsoft website. As any solution might, in retrospect, appear to be obvious, but initially all logical troubleshooting steps should be attempted, as there can be many causes behind an issue. We also have to be certain that the steps we are taking do not impact anything else on customers system. Thats why our technicians often run PC Health Check up on the customers computer and which, in this case, obviously displayed some negative results, which may cause several damages to the customers computer. This is not an installation of a file; it is a PC Health Check. That Health Check showed some malicious virus/software on the customers computer. We cannot manufacture these results. Thats why our technician informed the customer about the result of the PC-Health Check up. We never charge the customer for this check up and to make them aware of any polymorphic infection. It might take 15 minutes but it is a free service from us that is nowhere else provided. The technician could not answer the question as he/she might not get enough time to answer it as this person disconnected the chat abruptly. Otherwise our technician could have given the appropriate answer and solution.

We do not do any phishing or any other unethical practices, we invite the complainer to provide some details regarding the issue and we would be more than happy to fill him in on what the issue was. According to the complaint our technician was researching the issue in details and thats might take 15 minutes. However, we are very much confident that this complainant is now very sure that we did not install any malicious software on his computer.

With hundreds of Microsoft Certified Professionals amongst our technicians, we give remotely managed computer repair services a new look. We provide resolution for all kind of software issues of Microsoft product. As always, we are here to assist people who need our Microsoft certified technicians help regarding their any software related-issues at a low and economical cost. We are performing our duties in professional manner with pride to help our customers at any time.  Thats why we have earned and maintained an A+ Rating from the Better Business Bureau.
