I received a visit from one "Tiffany Johnson" of "Gemini" sales co. (a blank line with "sales co" on the Customer's Copy of Palmetto Marketing Inc. on July 19, 2003.

A very friendly female salesperson claiming she's near to winning a trip to Cancun ... yep, Cancun -identical MO to all of the rest of the sales reps for Palmetto Marketing Inc.- talked me into purchasing a subscription. Total cost for Popular Mechanics was $24, with the $10 "processing service" tagged on.

At the time of this writing it is now September 6, 2003 and I have yet to receive any issues from Popular Mechanics. This prompted me to look up Palmetto Marketing Inc. to lodge a complaint, and a search on the internet found this website, badbusinessbureau.com with scores of complaints on Palmetto Marketing Inc.

In hindsight it appears that I too have fallen victim to another scam- the lack of any 800 number to contact nor e-mail should have been an immediate tip-off of the shady nature of Palmetto Marketing Inc. Thankfully it only cost me $34 to learn this valuable lesson- money well-spent and a lesson not soon forgottten.

Should you receive a knock at your door from any representative of Palmetto Marketing Inc., please feel free to immediately ignore their request that you purchase any subscription, do NOT tip them (for what, really?), and send them on their way.

AUTHOR: Crystal - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, January 23, 2005

Sorry, but I know Tiffany and she isn't the type of perosn who would rip someone off, I am sorry however that you did get riped off, but it's not her fault, it's the company's, I worked with her, and she is the individual who trained me, so don't hold it against her, I could almost guarentee she turned your order in

SCAM, Please beware - I fell for this too!

AUTHOR: Lori - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, October 01, 2004

In January 2004, a nice looking, well-dressed young fellow told me he was raising money for college and could win a trip to Cancun. I bought Golf Magazine and haven't seen it yet.

Next time, ask if you can go online and order. Ask many, many more questions. We were temp. living in a large upscale corporate apartment complex (gated) while our home was be remodeled. In retrospect, I can't believe that they were able to pass the gate to solicit door-to-door. Never again!

I have written PMI letters and used certified mail with no response. I am NOT giving up until this is resolved or I have my money back!

Please let everyone and anyone know about this SCAM!

Helpful Information

AUTHOR: Lindsey - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, July 14, 2004

I am an ex employee of Palmetto Marketing and there are some shady individuals in that company. Not all of them are, but many, including the owner, Vinnie Pitts. Here is some Information that may be helpful to all of you:

Company Address: 7522 Wiles Road Suite #112
Coral Springs Florida 33067

Company Phone #: (Sorry, there is no 800 #, but the long distance fees are worth it if someone can bring this company down!) 954-341-8135

The managers of these agents are cruel and care only about themselves. Most people gaining employment are seeking to get away from something at home. Good luck to all of you!!

Written a check to PMI? Call your bank!

AUTHOR: Aping - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, July 10, 2004

I *almost* fell victim to this scam. A teen knocked on my door, claiming to be working on a school project, trying to earn a prize. (Trip to Bermuda, not Cancun) He had a speech impediment, and was really playing up the whole thing. He was charming, and had me convinced to write a check. My husband was taking a bath, and called me in to tell me to get this person out of our house. I couldn't understand why, and told him to relax, it's just a kid selling magazines. I filled out my order, and he left, putting a little sticker on my door. My husband was very upset about the purchase, so I decided to put a stop-payment on the check. I paid $25 to my bank, but the check was more than twice that amount. Who would you rather pay, your financial institution, or a scam?! I had no idea until today that they were a scam, but am SO grateful my husband did! I just assumed this was normal fund-raising, DON'T BE FOOLED!
