Pepperidge Farm foreign object in loaf of bread appears to be glass Norwalk Connecticut

Well sports fans, here is yet another case of possibly harmful/hazardous defective merchandise coupled with poor customer service. Far be it from me to be under the delusion that one small customer such as myself is of any consequence to a large corporation like Pepperidge Farms, however, you would like to think that they would be at least somewhat concerned when a customer contacts them alerting them to a defect in one of their products which could result in serious injury.

My girlfriend bit into what appears to be a piece of glass while eating a slice of Pepperidge Farms Jewish Rye bread. When she initially contacted Pepperidge Farms she was greeted by a less than courteous customer service representative who took the information from her and informed her that she would be contacted by mail.

Pepperidge Farms responded by mail with an envelope containing a half hearted apology, a return addressed envelope in which to return the foreign object and two coupons (one for $1.00 and one for $3.00) good towards the purchase of more of their products. One can only hope that the replacement product will be glass free.

At this point I am insulted by their reaction to the complaint and i am hesitant to return the tainted sample to them. I would appreciate advice on this matter.
