I wanted to buy a television for my girlfriend as a Christmas present. I found the ideal one on the Pixmania website. Their website reported that the item was in stock so I decided to order it straight away (Wednesday) so that it would arrive in time for Christmas day. I received my confirmation email and was informed that I would receive my item within 5 working days.

Two day later (Friday) I received another email telling me that my item was not in stock but they should receive a delivery from the supplier the next day. At this point I started to get a little worried so decided to send them an email asking for more details. After a couple of hours without hearing anything back I decided to call them to see if I could get the details I wanted. After a fairly long wait on their phone system (which is a national rate call) I finally got to speak to someone. The person on the end of the phone told me that they should be receiving another delivery on the following day (Saturday), and the item should be dispatched on the Monday. I asked whether I would be kept informed about the state of my order by email, as I wanted to know that the item had been dispatched. I also asked if the person on the other end of the phone could send me an email detailing our conversation. A few minutes later I received an email which was not very useful as it didn't really detail any of our conversation and seemed very much like a generic template. I was half tempted at this point to call them up again to get the email I had asked for but regrettably gave them the benefit of the doubt.

Monday came and I eagerly awaited a email confirming that my order had arrived and was being dispatched. By about 15:00 I was getting extremely concerned and decided to give them a call to find out for myself that everything was fine. Once again it took a while waiting on the phone system before I got to speak to someone. I was then informed that they had not received my item and they were not intending to get restocked until the following Friday, a week and half after I placed my order. At this point I was pretty devastated as I knew that I would not receive the television until after Christmas. I had to cancel my order, at which point they told me it would take 24 hours to process my cancellation.

I have completely lost faith with this company and would like to warn others about their practices.
