Be prepared to be wowed by what you can see (land rovers, etc), however, be prepared to eat ants. Three different times we told them that they were ants where we were sitting and that there were ants in the bread. Three different times they moved us and three different times they kept bringing us ants to eat. okay I get it, it's dark, maybe we won't notice, but come on! Don't make excuses that that's the environment that we live in.
Nobody said the environment that we live in is a good excuse for us to tolerate ants in our food. When I finally said enough is enough, we will just leave after three failed attempts and forego the entertainment, the company proceeded to keep my fees. I requested the refund, and they granted me a 10% refund.
REALLY?
Come on Platinum Heritage Desert Safari! I could have made a huge deal in front of all your guests and let them know they are eating ants. You proceeded to charge me 90% for that screw up. I refuse to stand down; you should give me every dime back.
Your CEO Adam McEwan, who knows me, should have sent me an email with an apology along with a full refund and a free invite to another safair for my whole family to show me what the quality of service is really like at Platinum Heritage. Fix the issue and get a sanitary cooking and and serving environment! Ridciulous!

#1 REBUTTAL Owner of company
Ants in the desert?
AUTHOR: Adam - (United Arab Emirates)
SUBMITTED: Monday, June 18, 2018
One has to ask how a company becomes the World Travel Award - Middle East Best Safari - 3 years in a row, became the only tourism company to win a Gulf Sustainability Award, has entered into the TripAdvisor Hall of Fame and became the first ever desert camp to become a Dubai Tourism Green Tourism Award recipient . In our case, it is our innovative and unwavering commitment to sustainability and our mission to protect both the Dubai culture and heritage and also the natural environment.
The reviewer (whom I do not know as he mistakenly posted) believes that we screwed up. Being in the middle of the desert, I guess we could have blanketed the area with dangerous and toxic chemicals so the chance of no living creature surviving would have solved his problem. However, these chemicals would have risked all the beautiful wildlife that calls this conservation area home. We have some wonderful lizards, beetles, desert marsupials, foxes and desert hares who would all be affected by toxic chemical treatments. Plus would anyone really like their children running around barefoot, through sand laced with poison?
Instead, we are of the belief that sensible travellers understand that there will be the occasional ant, fly, mosquito, beetle or bug while experiencing the great outdoors. What a horrible and overly sanitised experience would it be if we killed all living creatures in our conservation reserve in order to avoid a small inconvenience to some guests?
There is a name for this time of decision and it is called - Responsible.
Once we were made aware of the reviewers situation, we provided a complimentary photography package (valued at AED500) which the reviewer accepted. We also refunded the dinner portion of his 7 hour experience (AED375). These gestures actually amount to 26% of the cost of his package. This was all for a situation that was not only beyond anyone's reasonable control but also not reported by any other guest - ever. Not just on the night the reviewer visited but - ever.
However, the reviewer continued to write to our team with abusive messages and threats to tarnish our reputation unless he received the compensation that he stated in his review - the equivalent of a 200% refund.
There is a name of demanding money in order to stop bad reviews and it is called - Blackmail.
While we are incredibly sorry that there were a few ants in our outdoor seating area, and apologised on numerous times to the reviewer - we do not believe that review sites should be used as weapons against honest, hardworking and responsible people.
I hope that sensible readers will see the requests from the reviewer for what they are.
Regards,
Adam McEwan
