Plenty of fish , acted (in my personal opinion) in a scammy manner.  they put a credit card  auto-renewal into their terms of service. In my opinion this is a very deceptive business practice. I know there are others who have  been screwed by the service that Mr. Markus Frind created.

HERE IS WHAT YOU DO IF YOU FIND THAT YOUR CREDIT CARD HAS BEEN CHARGED by plenty of fish.

IF YOU ARE IN THE Unites States. ---------------
1. File a complaint with the Federal Trade Comission
2. File a complaint with the local state Attorney General's office

Auto-renewal or renewal without being notified NEAR the renewal date are now mandatory in many states. You may find that the FTC's laws are limited in this matter or your state's  laws are limited (because of lobbying from the electronic merchants association).  BUT STILL COMPLAIN. When your Attorney General or  FTC gets a barrage of letters they investigate and try to change business practices.  :-)

If you are in Canada:

1.Complain to your Attorney General's office of your province.

Some provinces like Ontario and Quebec have  updated their consumer protection law to limit auto-renewal contracts or continuing service contract , and they have provisions to give you notice  near the renewal date. Of course your province may vary.
