I currently had AT&T. Someone called me from preferred long distance. They asked me if I wanted to save on my long distance. Which was a dumb thing to do, as I don't make don't make many long distance phone calls. I agreed thinking I would save money on my phone service. Then he proceeded to the recorded authorization. I was not aware that they were going to take over my whole phone line. It did not say in the recording they would do that. So I said yes. the person I spoke to said that my preferred long distance bill would be included in my AT&T bill and that they worked together. So I didn't worry I said I agreed. so time went by and I received a bill. I wasn't worried I figured it was in agreement. So I waited a few days and then opened it. To my astonishment when I opened it I saw that the bill was $256.00. So at that moment I called her friend long distance and tell him told them I was not interested in doing business with them anymore and I must discontinue their services. The person on the phone line said okay that's fine. by not knowing that I must call AT&T to ask them to take my services back, I did not pay the $256 as angry as I was thinking I've been ripped off. I called the company and argued with them about the charges. I got nowhere. The lady over the phone was very rude.
A week went by. And then I showed up at my business and tried to run a credit card and when I did. I realize I didn't have a phone line. So I proceeded to call preferred long distance. When I spoke to them over the phone they were very rude again. They said that if I didn't pay the $256 I would not get my phone line back. Endwall this is happening I'm on my fourth treatment of chemotherapy. Feeling sick to my stomach and having horrible anxiety. I proceeded to pay the money they were asking for so I could get my line back. The lady over the phone was quite angry at me after arguing with her about my bill which I didn't feel I should pay because it was way too much for two months of phone service. When I asked her when I would get my phone service back. She said it would take about three days. Which it didn't it took about three hours. that was a relief is I was missing business because I couldn't run my credit cards.
As soon as I got my line back I called AT&T and ask them to take my Leinbach they also said it would take about three days which it didn't it only took about a day.
and now preferred long-distance continues to bill me now they want another $30. What a scam!
